Day 6

Monday, December 6, 2010
Which of your senses means the most to you?

Wow, this one is going to require some real thought....

It's no secret that this little penguin LOVES to eat (as evidenced by the enormity of my rear end!) so I don't know what I'd do without my sense of taste. Oh, wait, yes I do....drop a ton or two, probably!

I have some favorite smells that I can't imagine living without: babies (!), anything baking in my oven, garlic, basil, onions (preferably all in one pot on my stove!), wet autumn leaves, the way it smells outside after a refreshing rains, Bath & Body Works Cool Citrus Basil (my signature scent!), I could go on and on... However, with no sense of smell, I would never miss the smell of garbage, public bathrooms, and B.O.!

I would find it nearly impossible to live without music, so I really need my hearing. Plus, without my hearing, I'd miss out on the joyous sound of children laughing, which truly makes my heart smile. Mostly, I would never want to have to live without ever hearing my baby say, "I love you, Mom."

I don't even want to think about never seeing my beautiful son's face again, not to mention the other people I love. I couldn't imagine never being able to see a beautiful sunset again. You know how much I love them based on the fact that I like to take pictures of them and post them here, even though they're just the crummy, little "city" sunsets. I wish I could share some of the sunsets I captured while in Italy. Some of you know, my parents' villa is right on the ocean, which makes for absolutely stunning sunsets. Unfortunately, I didn't own a digital camera yet when I was last there. :(

Finally, without my sense of touch, I'd never feel the warmth of a hug from a loved one.

Wow, I don't think I can answer this. I will say that my "top two" would be sight and hearing. Jeez, if I had a gun to my head and I HAD to pick one over the other, I would have to say....sheesh! I just don't know!!!!

I have pretty crappy eyesight already. My eye doctor told me over 20 years ago that without my glasses/contacts, I'm legally blind in my left eye. I'm probably legally blind in both now!

I REALLY love my music. Unless I'm watching TV, I have music on. Always. And, many of the shows I watch have music (glee, DWTS, etc.)

OK, I'm going to totally blow it today, and not answer this prompt properly. I have to say it's a tie between vision and hearing. Sorry. That's my final answer.

Let me make it up to you by putting a little 'something extra' in today's post! ;-)

This is from one of my favorite blogs, Not Always Right. For some reason, it just cracked me up!

An Open And Shut Case

Tech Support | Los Angeles, CA, USA

Me: “Hello, [Tech Support]. How can I help you?”

Caller: “I just got your wireless internet thingy, but I’m not sure I like it.”

Me: “What’s wrong with it?”

Caller: “Oh, nothing’s wrong with it. It’s much faster than my old internet; but do I always have to open my windows? I hate opening up the windows.”

Me: “What computer do you have?”

Caller: “I have a Mac.”

Me: “Then how do you–”

Caller: “Oh! No. Not that computer windows thing! I don’t have that! I mean my actual windows around my house!”

Me: “You’re… opening up you’re windows around your house?”

Caller: “Yes! And it’s really chilly today!”

Me: “Ma’am, I hate to interrupt, but why is this relevant to your internet problem?”

Caller: “Well, it’s wireless! It comes through the air, right? How else am I going to get it if the windows are closed?”

Maybe it was so funny to me because I spent so much damn time on the phone with Comcast this weekend!! THIS is why I'm not rude to the tech support people. I could never do their job!

I'm going to completely switch gears here and ask that all my Bloggy Buddies who pray PLEASE say some prayers for my friend, Tiffany, and her family. Go here for the update.

While I've been sitting here working on this post, I've had a new NBC show on, called The Sing Off. (See, another show with music!!) I've been typing during the commercial breaks, but now I think I'm going to give it my full attention. It's TOTALLY getting me pumped for this weekend's date with my Bestest Friend. More on that later.

I'm sick & tired of being sick & tired!

Whatever it is my body's been fighting for the past couple of weeks really got me last night. (That would explain the total BS post for last night, although it did make me smile.) I never got a break yesterday, thanks to a grade level meeting, which means I never ate lunch. I didn't have breakfast, either, because I was running really late, because I had to take Stud to school, which really threw off my whole morning. Because I was running late, I didn't have time to stop for coffee. The lack of caffeine did nothing to help my lack of energy. :(

I had to run a couple of errands right after school. But, I was so hungry, I didn't even get to finish them, as I started to get the shakes. I ended up calling Bestest Friend, who then met Stud and me at our favorite restaurant. We scarfed down anything that wasn't nailed down at our table, and then I raced home because a) I was exhausted and b) I had to make sure I was home in time for the Dancing with the Stars finale.

Well, I made it home by 6, which meant I had plenty of time to put my jammies on and get comfy in bed. Yeah....big mistake. I turned the TV on, started checking emails, posted yesterday's little story, and the last time I remember checking the clock, it was 6:45. That's all I remember. I think I passed out. I didn't wake up until 6:30 this morning!! Oh, I was so pissed!

I actually just finished watching DWTS online, so I'm all caught up, but that's not the point. I suppose I should just be glad that I was able to actually get 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep, right? Obviously, my body needed it. I still pretty much feel like crap today, though. I can NOT shake this cough, which like I said, I think is bronchitis. If I'm not better by Thanksgiving, I'll be going to see someone on Friday.

Holy cow, won't you be glad when NaBloPoMo is finally over, so you won't have to read all the boring details of my life?! Thanks, C, I know right now you're yelling at your computer that you LOVE reading this crap! hahaha! To the rest of you, I apologize.

CRAP!!

Ok, first let me say that I realize there are people with real problems in the world. Hell, I have a few REAL problems of my own that I should be dealing with, but right now, I prefer to bury my head in the sand. Just call my Olivia the Ostrich. Anyway, here's my dilemma at the moment:

What the hell am I going to watch tonight!?
Image
ImageWHY do all the shows I love have to start the same week? Now, I know I can watch all of these online tomorrow, so it's not like I'm really going to miss anything. However, it's still bugging me that DWTS is going to be on at the same time as the glee premier. Crapsicles!

I think I'm going to watch glee "live" and then watch DWTS tomorrow. I know I can find out who gets eliminated by watching the news, but I like to watch the musical guests. I'm pretty sure Santana is performing tonight, and I LOVE me some Santana!!!

Thankfully, I'll be able to watch this at it's usual time.Image I've been meaning to post about this show for the past week or so. I just discovered it last week, when NBC aired a full night of Parenthood. I never watched it during the regular season, but now I'm totally hooked!! I went online and watched all the episode available, but I was bummed because it was only the last 6. I just may have to rent Season 1 at some point to see what I missed. I did see the season premier last week, and I'm glad I'll be able to watch it this season. Anybody out there a fan?

I realized when I went to the NBC website to lift that photo that I'm also going to miss the season premier of The Biggest Loser. Poop. I think I just may have to let that one go this season. Especially since my usual MO is to sit and EAT while I watch it anyway!! Oy!

OK, guess I'd better go pop some popcorn for my very FULL night of mindless television. WOO HOO! glee starts tonight!!! Guess I'll miss Margaret Cho getting booted. ;-)

***update***
(Yeah, cuz I really DO think you give a rat's ass about this!)
The universe it working with me here tonight. Turns out that the first hour of DWTS was a repeat of yesterday's show. So, while I was thoroughly enjoying glee just now (woo hoo!) I didn't miss a thing! And, as soon as I clicked over to ABC, they introduced Santana, who I ADORE!!! So far, so good. Once I watch Margaret get dumped, I can switch to NBC to watch Parenthood. All is good in ChiTown.... ;-)

***update 2***
WHAT THE HELL?!?!?! Margaret was just saved from elimination as I was clicking 'publish' for the first update. Seriously?! I guess it's The Situation that's getting the boot then, huh? Although, it's between him and The Hoff, so that's a pretty close call. The Hoff will get the 'old folks' vote, but The Situation may have an advantage since the youngsters may be inclined to vote for him. I have no idea. Oops, gotta go, Adam Carolla is on!!!
