Indian Movies....+ What the Butler Saw

Hi, first of all thank u ALL for participating so actively to the previous post !!! 200 comments, u rock people, it was very interesting to see ur comments and points of view as single /married/boy/girl :) Doing a joint post with Keshi was awesome and with a topic like that, we can talk about it forever!

Now, yesterday night I watch a 3 hours Indian movie, that a colleague of mine from Hyderabad brought here. I have seen a couple of bollywood movies that we have here in Ireland but it s mostly the commercial ones like (Om Shanti Om, Love Story 2050) and the thing that I noticed it s most of the time, there is LOTS of colors, lots of dance and music, and love story (with NO kissing, i m not even mentionning sex) and always a happy ending.

Image
I ve seen recently one called "Brick Lane" and yes for the first time I have seen a not so happy ending story with a very intimate scene, now I don t know if it is a real indian movie and how people react in Indian when they saw the movie? (u can answer that question people :)

SO yesterday I ve seen Rang De Basanti, and I must say I went a bit emotional at the end of it, for the first time I ve seen a kiss (and I believe it is an Indian movie:) and a sad story! It was a long movie but I did not get bored during it, we pretty much did not stop the movie during the intermission.
I even recognized some actors like one of the main actors (the one playing the muslim with long hair) I ve seen him a recent movie that I forgot the name (of course) and I was happy to see the one playing the father of the muslim, I think he was the one playing the main role in the movie 'The city of Joy' :)
I really like it, now I have a couple of questions that u might be able to answer to it, please do so people:
- it s a movie from 2006, does it reflect what s going in India nowaday?
- Do u have real intermission during movie at the cinema? What do u do then? Can u go out of the movie room?
- Can u tell m which good Indian movies I should watch with or without happy ending :)

I am not very creative tonite (was a bit sick today :( ) so it won t be a loooooong post today, but i m happy to say that we finally finish the DVD of the play I did 2 months ago. For the first time I played with some colleagues of mine in a play called "What the Butler saw" originally played in 1969 by Joe Orton, 2 years after he died from tragical conditions in 1967. Now, the original played was pretty... well it is hard to describe it. But see what s wikipedia said about it:

"Orton's controversial farce What The Butler Saw debuted in the West End after his death in 1969. It opened at the Queen's Theatre. It was booed so loudly by gallery first nighters that the critics could not hear the lines.
[...]
The play was Orton's last before his death in 1967. The first public performance of the play - almost two years after Orton’s brutal murder - was reportedly barracked with cries of "filth!""

Image
And he died from:
"On August 0, 1967,
Halliwell bludgeoned the 34-year-old Orton to death with nine hammer blows to the head, and then committed suicide with an overdose of 22 Nembutal tablets washed down with the juice from canned grapefruit. Investigators determined that Halliwell died first, because Orton's body was still warm."

U can find a sum up of the original story here if u dare to do so :) we haven t play the entire play for two reasons:
-the words he used specially in the second act were too difficult to understand or to pronounce since all of the actors were foreigners :)
- the second act was way too harsh (including topics like incest, murder and so and so) that we thought won t be appropriate in front of our co-workers, plus we wanted to avoid the 'filth!' at the end of the show, so we kept only the funny parts of it. I was playing Doctor Rance a crazy psichiatrist, I really enjoyed doing it, and for my first play, and in english it was not too bad I must say :)

Simple weekend

Yesterday I went to Chandni, my favorite indian restaurant, I had as usual my cheese naan, the waiters are not even bringing the menu, they already know what I want ;) Followed by a walk in the herbert park, the weather was pretty cool in dublin yesterday. The yellow old man is walking through the park with his ringing bell which means it is time to leave the park. I came back home.

Was a bit bored, so I was watching some videos on youtube till I found that one, which i found pretty awesome, very funny guys, Indian Michael Jackson, everytime i m laughing when the cleaning guy arrived:

I also took part, finally, at the Nikonians community, and participate to my first contest with the yellow fish, i m not hoping to win, but at least meet some experts that can give me some advice, and share my passion with others.

Now, I m off, till it s still a good weather to roller skate with my friend!
