Partner Organizations

Partner Organizations are a network of international studies groups accredited by ISA to promote contacts among specialists and practitioners, while advancing scientific and cultural exchange. ISA facilitates channels of communication between academics and policy-makers to promote a successful link between the production of knowledge and its utilization.

Partner Organizations are invited to participate in ISA's activities, including the Annual Convention, various international conferences and joint workshops, both in-person and virtual. Partner Orgnanizations are invited to submit proposals to virtual events run in collaboration with ISA Headquarters. Other benefits of partner status include reciprocity in web site promotion, publicity and announcements.

Select Partner Organizations are often invited to participate in ISA's Annual Convention and may receive a small quota of panels for their membership to use. Please contact programming@isanet.org if your organization is interested in submitting panels or roundtables to ISA's Annual Convention.

Partner Organizations should meet the following criteria:

  • The organization should be a scholarly, professional organization.
  • The organization's mission should reflect purposes similar to ISA, as identified by ISA's constitution.
  • Partnership should lead to meaningful, reciprocal, and ongoing activities.

Organizations interested in becoming an ISA Partner Organization should email the following information:

  • Please describe how your association is in conformance with our three criteria for Partner Organization status.
  • Please indicate if your organization is interested in participating in ISA's Annual Convention and/or in hosting a virtual event.
  • Please provide a list of the key officers of your organization, along with their e-mail addresses and their mailing addresses, including the person who will be the primary contact for ISA.
  • If you have a website, please provide us with the address so that we may link to it from our list of Partner Organizations, as well as our list of Internet resources. We request a reciprocal link exchange on your organization's own website, if you have one.

Please send your application materials to programming@isanet.org.

Korean International Studies Association

The Korean International Studies Association (KISA) was founded in 2009 as a scholarly and professional organization devoted to the study of international affairs in Korea through the English language medium. KISA provides a support structure for accumulation and distribution of knowledge on International Studies in Korea, related to the Korean Peninsula and/or to its operating environment. KISA brings together scholars and students of international studies as well as practitioners in the field of international affairs through research collaboration, presentations at the annual congress (usually held in October or November) and in other affiliated workshops. KISA also supports the diffusion of knowledge through publication in two endorsed journals: The Scopus-listed Asian International Studies Review published by Ewha Womans University Institute for International and Area Studies (IIAS) in association with Brill publishers, and the graduate student focused Yonsei Journal of International Studies. KISA conference panels have been published in book form by Brill and Palgrave Macmillan. KISA has close working relationships with other international organizations such as the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, the Asian Political and International Studies Association (APISA), and the Korea Foundation. Please contact KISA through the dedicated Facebook page or directly by email to Dr. Brendan Howe (bmg.howe@gmail.com) or Dr. Mason Richey (mrichey@hufs.ac.kr).

Urban Affairs Association

The Urban Affairs Association (UAA) is the international professional organization for urban scholars, researchers, and public service professionals. The Urban Affairs Association is dedicated to creating interdisciplinary spaces for engaging in intellectual and practical discussions about urban life. Through theoretical, empirical, and action-oriented research, the UAA fosters diverse activities to understand and shape a more just and equitable urban world. (Adopted March 12, 2010) UAA is the successor organization to the Council of University Institutes for Urban Affairs, formed in Boston in 1969 by a group of directors of university urban programs. As urban affairs developed as a professional and academic field, the need for an organization that welcomed urban faculty, professionals, and students as well as urban program directors and deans became increasingly apparent. In recognition of this need, in 1981 the organization’s name was changed to the Urban Affairs Association. Today, UAA includes over 600 institutional, individual, and student members from colleges and universities throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Among its other activities, UAA sponsors the Journal of Urban Affairs, a refereed annual journal, publishing manuscripts related to urban research and policy analysis of interest to both scholars and practitioners. All UAA members receive the Journal of Urban Affairs as part of their membership fee. The Urban Affairs Association holds a conference each spring in an urban center. These yearly conferences are an integral part of UAA’s efforts to increase knowledge about urban places and promote the development of research activities. They provide an excellent opportunity for members to exchange ideas, information, and experiences. The conference program features both topics of institutional concern and those related to urban issues. Although formal papers are presented, with selected papers published, the conference format also allows opportunities for informal activities designed to foster professional networking and open discussion.
