An Exercise for the Will

Vic and I spent last weekend in Hong Kong for our much needed break. As parents of three kids aged three and below, we need to find time to be together as a couple. * We left the kids with my parents. I went to HK with a list in mind. I was set on buying a bag (again), or a watch plus some clothes and shoes for the kids. I already had a list of stores I am planning to visit. I wanted to go to Macau because the big hotels weren't there when I last visited the place. I wanted to go the Peak also. But, Vic didn't want to. He just waited while I shopped. Sometimes, we went our separate ways so he can get his toys. Nakakahiya , we didn't do anything touristy in this trip. It was basically a shopping trip. Okay lang . We didn't get to do much of that last time. I was deprived of shopping last time I was in HK . So, pardon me if I don't have any pictures to show you. Day 1: As soon as we've checked in, we had some money changed to the local currency, had...

Survivors in HK - Day 3

By this time, I haven't gotten myself anything of value. All I've gotten on the first day were pasalubong items for the people back home. This day was solely for shopping. I hoped to squeeze in some time for outlet shopping in Citygate. That morning, after breakfast, Vic, Vic's dad, Johann and I went to Mongkok to get Vic his new toy. He has this sudden interest in photography so our current point-and-shoot camera would not suffice. He's been scouting for one with a good price back in Manila so he knows if HK offers a better price. He indeed got a better one from Broadway, complete with a memory stick, tripod and bag. With his craving for an SLR satisfied already, we are off to my hunt for great bargains. Since it was only my second time in HK, I did not know where to go. Besides, the place where we can go to is limited to stroller-friendly areas. The shops in Mongkok were filled with items for winter so I didn't end up with a lot of pieces. I got several ...

To HK or to Shanghai?

There has been some discussion about where to go for the New Year. FIL is planning to take the whole family (his kids, their spouses and his grand-children) to HK or Shanghai. I believe this will be his gift to us this year. Unfortunately, Javi is still too fragile to join us. I personally prefer HK. Not just for the shopping, but mainly for Disneyland. Kids will surely have a great time. I hear that there's a special event being cooked up by HK Disney for the New Year's Eve celebration. Since we are bringing Johann without the yaya, we are looking forward to lots of activities to keep him occupied. I hope we get to go around HK as well. I am looking forward to Ikea and H&M and the Mango and Esprit outlet stores. As for Shanghai, I am not sure what we can do to amuse the kids. Shopping will surely take most of our time. I'm sure there'll be lots to do in the Paris of the East. One drawback is we'd have to allow time for Visa processing. Another is t...
