Apple's pickings

In the few PRP episodes I've seen, I noticed that there's one judge who stands out. She doesn't sugar-coat her words. Like Simon Cowell, she is not afraid to speak her mind. She takes her title to heart with her constructive criticism. Because of that, she raises the bar. Her high level of standards forces the contenders to outdo their previous work. I wonder where she got her work ethics. Her work discipline is so refreshing in an industry where almost everything is ruled by artistic license. I am seeing Magis in action. Opus Dei ka ba? Or pinalaki ka lang na ganyan ng magulang mo? Or nakilala mo din si Lolo Joel sa isang bahagi ng buhay mo?

Plums

Several weeks ago, I bought fresh plums from the grocery.  I personally do not know how to eat them.  I tried them before but I have forgotten.  Do you eat them with the skin?  How do you know if it is ripe enough? Instead of dwelling on that, here I am searching for recipes.  I think I will try this out tomorrow. Plum Quick Bread recipe snagged from Allrecipes .com.   3 eggs 2 (6 ounce) jars plums or plum with apple baby food 1 cup vegetable oil 1 cup buttermilk 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour 2 cups sugar 2 tsps baking soda 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, baby food, oil and buttermilk.  Combine the dry ingredients; add to the egg mixture and mix till moistened.  Transfer to 2 greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pans. Bake at 350 degrees F for 60 to 65 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.  Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks.
