Expanded Charts refers to Expert and Special difficulties, which can be obtained through Event rewards, the Store, or other methods.
An Expanded Chart cannot be played if the player does not own its base charts (Easy, Normal, Hard).
Expert and Special difficulties serve different purposes, and is listed as such below.
Expert Chart

- Expert difficulty is included when calculating the player's Skill Rate.
- Does not include the Flick Note.
- It is more difficult than Hard charts.
- The Expert Skill Constant can be greater than or equal to the Hard Skill Constant. (e.g. Fairy's Crown)
Special Chart

- Special difficulty is not included when calculating the player's Skill Rate.
- Includes Flick Notes and Advanced Patterns
- Difficulty is not necessarily higher than Hard charts
- Despite having no Skill Constant, Special charts can be more difficult than Hard or even Expert charts.
Special Chart Rework[]
Introduced in V4.0.0, any Hard chart that had any Flick Notes was transitioned over to the Special difficulty. As such, some songs have Special charts unlocked by default, and does not factor in the charting style of newer added Special charts post-rework (e.g. Achromic Riddle).

Store[]
Expanded Charts are usually obtained through Events as rewards. If the player did not claim it when the event ends, then they will have to wait for it to be added to the Store under the Expanded Charts section.
Each Expanded Chart can be bought by using 80
Expanded Chart Vouchers. These can be bought at the Store for 80
Crystals or by claiming Event Rewards.
