I saw warning of an Amazon scam. It was in a Facebook group post, and I wasn't sure if non-group members could view it, so I went looking for the original.

Then I checked dates; the warnings look to be 12-18 months old, so it's possible this scam is no longer going on. Still, forewarned is forearmed, so here's the information --

Here's a text version

When I googled "amazon scam warning", several different results cropped up. I guess general safe practice is, if there's any problem with an Amazon order, go directly to the website and check the order status directly.

One of Ginmar's friends pointed us toward this: FDA Warns Pets Being Poisoned by Treats: Manufacturers Refusing Recall

Short version: FDA is testing the suspected products -- made in China -- but because they can't identify the contaminant, "pet treat manufacturers are not required by law to recall their products, and none of them have volunteered to do so."

The poisoned products are still stocked on store shelves across the country, with no indication that they will be removed any time soon. Dogs varying age from puppies to seniors have been falling ill and dying and the only thing the dogs have in common is that each of them ate dog treats imported from China.

The FDA warns specifically about chicken jerky treats, but the list of brands with treats made in China or that are being linked to pet illness and deaths are:

Waggin Train
Canyon Creek Ranch
Dogswell
Booda Bones – Aspen Pet
Milo’s Kitchen
American Kennel Club
Hartz
Dingos
Beefeaters
Cadet
Sargents
Ever Pet ($$ General)
Home Pet 360
Walgreen’s new brand – Simple

Read the article, check what you have at home, and warn your pet-owning friends.

If you have both a Facebook and a Pandora account, there are some cross-linking shenanigans going on. I don't understand it, but if this might apply to you, azurelunatic explains it all.
