fix(derive): keep an invalid choice after an override displaces the flag

What

mise --log-level=v --trace was accepted by usage-argv and refused by both usage-lib and clap. usage-argv was wrong — and so, it turned out, was usage-go.

--trace declares overrides --log-level. The derive's displace_statement clears __given_* and resets the value, and the post-binding choice check sat inside that given guard — so the __invalid_choice_* ledger was never consulted and there was nothing left to judge. The check now runs outside the guard.

overrides settles which of a pair is in effect; it does not make a word that was never one of the choices into one. Only a later occurrence of the flag itself replaces the word it was handed — that is the ledger's own reset, and #1156's last-token-wins rule for a repeated scalar is untouched.

How it was found

The differential proptest over mise's spec (benches/gate/tests/differential.rs::no_unexplained_disagreement), reported as:

The command path and --include-global are incidental — --include-global is undeclared there and falls through to [HOST], and --log-level is global, so mise --log-level=v --trace reproduces it with nothing else on the line. --trace --log-level=v was already refused; it was purely the displacement clearing the ledger.

Worth noting: the existing test an_override_does_not_erase_an_invalid_choice names exactly this rule, but used --index, which is not declared on tool-alias set and so falls through to a positional — it never exercised an override. Left in place with a comment saying what it does and doesn't cover, alongside the new test that does.

The third implementation had it too

The corpus vector is answered by usage-lib, the derives, and usage-go, and adding it turned mise r test:go red — which is the corpus doing its job. usage-go dropped a flag that lost an overrides before anything looked at it (if lost[f.Key] { continue }), so the same line parsed there. Reproduced locally, not a CI artifact.

argv.CheckDisplaced is now the half of Check that still applies to a loser: its choices, and nothing else. A loser stays out of the running for required, for env and default, and for the rules that read one entry to judge another. Check calls it, so the two cannot drift. The conformance driver walks every declared entry rather than only those with a final state, so which failure a multi-fault line reports does not depend on who won the pair.

• conformance/tests/post_binding.rs — derive-layer mirror: both orders, plus the two cases that must stay accepting (a valid word displaced in silence, and a repeat that genuinely corrects).
• benches/gate/tests/differential.rs — the finding pinned as a line rather than as a seed, plus a note in the header.

• go/argv/post.go — new exported CheckDisplaced, used by Check.
• go/conformance/conformance_test.go — keeps the loser's typed values and judges them in declaration order with everything else.
• go/argv/post_test.go — both halves: the bad word survives displacement, and a required loser is still not reported missing.

Docs

• docs/spec/reference/flag.md, docs/rust/validation.md — a sentence each.
• docs/go/index.md, docs/go/generated-code.md — both already told Go callers they own ApplyOverrides themselves; they now also say to call CheckDisplaced on each key it reports.

On the regression seed

Not committed. The seed would replay an opaque shrunk shape that no longer fails; a_flag_displaced_by_an_override_still_reports_its_invalid_choice names the line and the reason instead. Nothing was written to differential.proptest-regressions after the fix.

Verification

Full Rust suite green; full Go suite green with 221/221 corpus vectors answered and none skipped. A 20,000-case sweep of no_unexplained_disagreement — the number the file's own comment says to re-run after touching this — passes with nothing new written to the regressions file. Also run locally, since CI aborted before reaching them on the first push: the three trimmed-feature clippy shapes, mise r render, gen-shadow, gen-go (no generated diff), mise r lint (clippy + semver clean), cargo fmt --check, prettier -c ..

Perf, since this touches generated parse code (from the gate's own comment on the first push):

Both well under the 1% gate. The shadow column is reported rather than gated and stayed clear of the script's 80x floor.

Deliberately out of scope

mise --log-level=v --log-level=info produces the identical Accept / refuse / InvalidChoice shape. That one is the deliberate #1156 rule (the_last_scalar_choice_controls_validation), which usage-lib and clap both disagree with — but no corpus vector covers it, so docs/spec/argv.md's claim that usage-lib agrees with every vector holds only by omission. Reverting a pinned decision is a product call, so it is filed separately rather than folded in here. The proptest has not hit it because the generator would need to draw the same long twice out of 262.
