Confidence and composure are skills. Our four-phase mental performance system trains them the same way we train strength and speed — with reps, coaching, and a plan.
At Drees Performance Training, we watch it happen every week: two athletes with the same physical tools perform completely differently under pressure. The difference is between the ears — how they talk to themselves, how they respond to mistakes, and how they handle the big moment.
Mental Edge pairs teen athletes with mentors who have lived it — college athletes who came through the rigors of high-level sports and academics — and gives them a practical system for mindset, goal-setting, and healthy habits that carries into school, sports, and life.
The System
Four Phases, One Stronger Competitor
1
Foundation
Values, routines, and self-awareness — the base layer every other mental skill gets built on.
2
Self-Mastery
Managing thoughts, emotions, and energy — building confidence on evidence, not hype.
3
Performance
Focus cues, pre-point routines, and reset skills that hold up mid-game, not just in practice.
4
Competition
Composure when it counts — playing free in big moments and bouncing back fast from mistakes.
How We Can Help
What Mindset Coaching Changes
Mental Resiliency
The ball doesn’t always bounce your way. Athletes learn to shake off mistakes — and the occasional bad call — without letting one point cost them the next ten.
Improved Performance
A strong mind drives harder practice and better games. Focus and intent turn the same hours of training into faster progress.
Enhanced Confidence
Being a teenager is hard. Working with a mentor who’s been there builds the poise to take on whatever sports — and life — throw at them.
Greater Focus
Purpose-driven goal setting and healthy habits teach the discipline and consistency that show up in school, sports, and life.

“The questions and discussions that were led on mental training really made the players think and question their own mental training. The coaches were phenomenal to work with — Jon and Nikki made sure the camp met our needs.”

Who is Mental Edge for?
Teen athletes in any sport who want to compete with more confidence and composure — most of our athletes play volleyball, but the system applies to every court and field. Teams and clubs can also book workshops.
How do sessions work?
Mentoring pairs your athlete 1-on-1 with a college or pro athlete mentor — monthly coaching sessions with weekly check-ins and goal tracking between them. Group sessions run in small pods, and team workshops come to your program as a half or full day.
Who are the mentors?
College and professional athletes who have been through the rigors of high-level sports and academics themselves, coaching from the same four-phase system: Foundation, Self‑Mastery, Performance, Competition.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the format — 1-on-1 mentoring, group sessions, or a team workshop. Contact us and we’ll match you to the right option and current rates.
