Saturday Spring Fair

Saturday we headed to the spring fair in Puyallup. Once we were out of the van and across the street we realized we forgot our discount coupons, so Kevin ran back to the van and he realized, he HAD to move the van tot the best parking place EVER. See our white van, in the first parking spot. The only thing nicer would would have been if parking wasn't free. hehe

ImageAfter B&K went to a bday party and rode ponies, they love them and so had to ride them at the fair.

ImageIt started raining as we were leaving
Image we decided not to bring our camera since our phones take pretty good pictures. And really how many would we be taking, its the spring fair, we do the same thing ever year, eat and ride rides. hehe But we had a great time and no one cried once

Spring Fair Fun

The little kids are just big enough to have so much fun at the fair. This might be boaring for you all but its for my family journal. You gotta love shorts and rubber boots. Image Bridger and his horse have the same teeth. hehe
Image Kimber wasn't too sure but warmed up to it quickly.
Image
Image Kimber wasn't tall enough for this fire engine ride. Bridger wasn't too sure when it first took off but soon had a great time.

Image 2 thumbs up!
Image way up high.
Image The canoes were alot of fun for both.
Image
Image
Image Here they went through a green Tee Pee. The reflection was amazing. It really wasn't very big.
Image They were so patient waiting for mom to go in the little girls room.
Image Here are the dump trucks.
Image
Image This is the ride Bridger wanted to ride all weekend. You had to be 3 feet tall. We measured him at home one night and he was 3 and a half feet tall. He was so excited to be able to ride on them.
Image as soon as it started someone ran into him and he lost it. We got our money back. They weren't bumper cars.
Image
Except for the last picture it was an over all great Spring Fair.

Spring Fair Auction

Here is Kyler in the sales ring, while the auctioneer is calling out the bids.
Image My dad and grandma were in the stands watching and hoping for the big bucks!
Image Take a guess what the pink stripe means?????????? You got it, time for dinner! hehe
Image The little kids ran and ran all day in the barns, they really got there work out. I don't know how they can keep going and going!
Image Kimber doesn't like to get dirty. With shavings all over the ground, it was a long day! hehe

Spring Fair Mouth Freeze

Yeah it snowed off and on all weekend but we still had to have ice cream at the fair.

Spring Fari Awards Banquet

The Northwest Junior Livestock Show awards banquet is for both 4H and FFA.
Image Here we are. My grandma rides the Greyhound bus for an entire day to be with us every year. (she is 90!)
Image Here is all the hardware.
Image Kyler was actually the assistant to the 4H board this year. So he had meetings to attend throughout the year and he got to hand out some of the awards. (the hat will have an explanation on the next picture)

Image Ryan and Kylers grandparents on their dads side were Pig Farmers, 4H leaders, 4H board members, County and State Fair board members. There Grandpa Howard always wore these hats along with the stripped overalls. On there 50th anniversary, all 7 kids got hats in different colors for there entire family (Ryan and Kylers dad, wife, step brother all had green) you know what I mean, each childs family had all the same color. All 7 original kids each had there own color. So Kyler always wheres it at the awards banquet. The Young family gives out an award in to honor there parents history and dedication to 4H. Hope that all made sense.
Image Here Kyler received the Martin T. Johnson inspirational award. Along with fitting, showing and type, there are the Martin Johnson, Howard Young and John Eby awards. Over the past few years, Kyler has one each one once. Yeah Kyler. They only go to one FFA and one 4H member a year so its alot of work on his part.
Image He is so happy.
Image It was a great banquet for us all. Everyone was surprised to get cupcakes.

Spring Fair Awards Banquet Cupcakes

Tonight is the awards banquet at the spring fair. They usually give us a small bowl in the middle of the table with Hershey Miniatures, which are gone before we even eat dinner. So I decided to make Kylers 4H club cupcakes. And because you know how much fun I am having with cupcakes. Last week I forgot to fill the pig cupcakes so I did those again this weekend. First I filled them.
Image Next I scrapped off any excess jelly.
Image Frosted them a light pale pink.
Image This time I left off the pigs two nostrils holes. (to many black dots)
Image Then of course, there are sheep kids and beef cow kids. I didn't want to leave them out. So I made Chocolate cupcakes. This one has a mini twix sticking out.

Image Just a few sprinkles because the contrast is wonderful.
Image Heres half of them. I made about 4 dozen total cupcakes for today.
ImageThis is a crazy weekend for us. Not only does each child wear two outfits a day (there fair close end up wet, and probably germy, Kyler needs barn clothes and show clothes.) So theres alot of laundry, then running Kyler back and forth to the fair. Picking up my grandma at my sisters to go with us. Trying to find a parking place close enough so my grandma who is 90 and the little kids don't have to walk to far. Then on top of it, its snowing and freezing. So I guess we will need extra socks for wet feet and I better grab the hand warmers. hehe

Spring Fair Friday

The 2nd day of the fair. Boy was it cold and raining. Here is Kyler washing his pig.

Image You can not let your back ever face the judge. Here is Kyler (the judge is in the black coat)
ImageHe is doing so well.
Image Yesterday was all about the pig. Today was about the showman, so how well do you show your animal. Kyler has 2 pigs at the fair. The one he worked with the most, to be his "actual" show pig (today) hurt its foot in the night and couldn't walk very well. So he had to use his other pig. He did really well, considering yesterday neither pig wanted to be in the ring. He got 3rd place overall 15 pigs in his class. Good Job Kyler. This is his last year and he was hoping for another Grand Champion. Oh well. He has some great trophies and memories from the past 10 years in 4H.
