We all love fondue and the melting pot. I decided that when we go camping for a week with the family, we are going to make it a tradition to do fondue. Mostly because we never get around to doing it at home, so make it a camping tradition to look forward too. I have to regular pots, so one had oil that we cooked beef chunks and bites of chicken breast (next time probably just the chicken, the beef took too long to cook for hungry little monsters). The second pot had two cans of nacho cheese soup (without the milk or water or what ever it calls for by campbells) and we dipped, carrots, celery, french bread and apples.

the road trip to hoopfest 2010
On the way to Hoopfest 2010, we had to make a quick stop in Ellensburg, so that Ryan could eat some chicken wing that all his friends had been telling him about, that he had been "training" for. This post could pretty much tell the story just by looking at the pictures. (1 wing for $1.50), see that you must sign a waiver...

Spider Family Home Evening
Tonight for Family Home Evening, I decided with Halloween coming it would be all about Spiders. I got my inspiration from my bloggy friend Cecilia. Her links are here http://ceciliamills.blogspot.com/2008/10/whats-for-dinner.html and here http://ceciliamills.blogspot.com/2008/10/whats-for-dinner.html . Hers are alot cuter. My family didn't seem to notice they were just impressed and happy. Well until Bridger found out he had to eat pizza before he could eat a cupcake. Then he had his usual meltdown.

Conversation of Bridgers, dinner and baby Kenna
I was driving and Bridger was talking to Kevin on my cell ph. This is what I heard.......
Bridger: Dad, I missed you
Kevin: (its a cell phone, I couldn't hear, hehe)
Bridger: Dad, can you make ice cream tonight?
Bridger: I don't like chocolate ice cream at the fair but I do at home, ok?
Did he just butter Kevin up so he would make homemade ice cream? I think so! and because Kevin is the best dad ever he is making ice cream. (or maybe its because we dont want to hear the little kiddos scream like mad men)
On a side note, heres our dinner tonight and it was Yummr (get it http://www.yummr.com/ go there its a fun sight)
I sauteed some green and red peppers with some sweet onions. Grilled a thin piece of meat (they called it stake but not really sure what it was. I typically buy beef by the half so purchasing it from the store totally throws me off) I then cut up the meat into bit size pieces and tossed it with either Honey Teriyaki or Thai Peanut (I am the only one that wanted the peanut sauce) then we had a side salad and some Mandarin oranges. Again, Yummr! close up
Now that Amber is back to work, I have been watching Baby Kenna if Ryan and Ambers schedules overlap. Isn't she the cutest?

Missionaries for Dinner
We had the missionaries over for dinner to night. They are some great guys. We had some very nice conversations with them. Bridger is getting the idea about blogging. He took these pictures (and he staged the cups) We had taco salad, watermelon and grapes.
Of course cupcakes. With all my left over frosting so they were kind of mismatched. hehe Can you pick out which one Bridger decorated?

Dinner tonight for the Rozario Family
I took dinner over Jolene and her five children to night (they just moved on Saturday) she looked beat. Anyway, I took Colorful chicken. Its a favorite of my kids. Chicken strips dipped in ranch dressing (not the powder but the dressing) then rolled in crushed gold fish, baked for 30 minutes at 350. Some in there family don't like ranch so I did a few in egg and everything else was the same.
Red potatoes drizzled in olive oil and then I just sprinkled everything from the cupboard. Tastefully Simple (which I sell) Garlic Garlic, TS Season Salt, TS Spinach herb and pepper (from Costco hehe) I baked it about 30 minutes at 350 also.
The Jello was not exactly my recipe but here is the real recipe. 1 large box of jello (preferably red) I usually use sugar free. Mix with 1 1/4 cup boiling water, stir to dissolve. Add a bag of still frozen Raspberries (the store was all out so I just grabbed mixed berries which were Strawberries (whole) Raspberries, Blackberries and Blue Berries), mix together, add 1 medium can crushed pineapple juice and all, add 2 to 4 bananas cut up (depends on how large your bowl is or how many you want to feed) I only had room for 2 bananas in this disposable bowl. You can also add cool whip on top with crushed nuts. (that's how I had it the first time, but I think with sugar free jello and all that fruit its pretty healthy, and if I added cool whip, my kids would ONLY eat the cool whip and nothing else) Refrigerate.

New Cookbook

I got a new cookbook this week that I ordered from http://www.myfamilymealplanner.com/ (I saw it on one of my imaginary friends blogs. Anyway, it is so cool. One year her family exchanged names for Christmas and they had to "make" something so she made (the first cookbook, I bought the 2nd edition after reviewing the menus) for her sister. The cool part is she is a daycare provider so she used the states regulations to meet food guidelines. So everyday you get a vit c and twice a week you get a vit a. You also get 1 meat, 1 bread, and either 2 veggies or 2 fruits (or one of each) Its really not that hard to think and open a can of corn. But I have to say..........I didn't have to think. Thinking of what to have for dinner every night, night after night kills me. The cookbook also comes with a menu for 4 days a week, 12 months of the year. The other 3 nights you can use your own family favorites (so I have made a list of 24 items, so again, I wont have to think) or you can also eat leftovers. It also comes with a grocery list, so you just scan it and cross of what you already have in your pantry. I will keep you posted on how the meals taste. They look pretty kid friendly. Tonight was baked spaghetti, peaches and corn. Dinner was ready in less than 30 minutes. It wasn't exactly "my" own spaghetti but it was good
