 'Dance of the Comedians'
from the opera
The Bartered Bride
composed by
Bedrich Smetana
performed by
Philharmonia Orchestra at Garsington Opera

"The Bartered Bride (he Sold Bride) is a comic opera in three acts by the Czech composer Bedrich Smetana, to a libretto by Karel Sabina. The work is generally regarded as a major contribution towards the development of Czech music. It was composed during the period 1863 to 1866, and first performed at the Provisional Theatre, Prague, on 30 May 1866 in a two-act format with spoken dialogue. Set in a country village and with realistic characters, it tells the story of how, after a late surprise revelation, true love prevails over the combined efforts of ambitious parents and a scheming marriage broker." AOM TV: "Bacchanale" performed at The Met

Image
Art by DDiArte

ORGY-ASTIC ECSTATIC!!!
WOW! WOW! WOW!

Wooo Weeee
Now this is the party I want to go to
Y'all cum along

This is a dance scene from an opera
A Wild and Crazy Party
Sex, Drugs, and Rock n Roll!
: )

The Bacchanalia were Roman festivals of Bacchus,
the Greco-Roman god of
wine, freedom, intoxication and ecstasy.
We commonly think of them as frenzied,
wild and crazy, uninhibited, drunken orgies.
That is what this music and dance express.
It builds and builds and builds into a orgiastic frenzy!

BALLET: Maurice Béjart's "Bolero" (Music by Maurice Ravel)

Image
SENSUALLY DELIGHTFUL!!!

This is a great dance performance
Beautifully captured on video
I love the precision of this group

I sometimes get quite angry at
Directors of cinematography
Because they fail to focus on the main performance
Instead they focus on the NOSE or the HAND
Of performers while they are performing great moves
Which we cannot see because the cameras
Are not focused on the overall performance
This seems especially true with group performances
Like an ensemble dance number
Or a marching band performance
Grrrrr
Just a pet peeave of mine
Well
The camera guys did a great job with this one
I've seen and posted other performances of Bejart's Bolero
But the camera work in this one really lets us see
What the audience got to see

~*~

Great Music, Great Choreography, Great Dancing
and
SEXY HOT GUYS!
:  )
YES!
I will admit it
I'll say it!
I started watching ballet
For the half-naked hot guys running around in their underwear
:  )
BUT, but, but
Now that I've seen many performances
I appreciate the other aspects of ballet
So now I enjoy the artistry and the hotistry
:  )

This starts out with one dancer on a round red table
As the music builds and builds
More and more shirtless hot dancers
Begin dancing around the table
I love their movements
This is quite an aerobic workout!
I'd be so tired trying to dance this one
Hell
I'd pass out halfway through it
:  )

Ballet: Excerpts from "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky

Image
Gorgeously Moving

Brief synopsis:
Princess Odette and her companions have been turned into swans by the evil magician Baron von Rothbart.  At night they change back to human form. Prince Siegfried meets Odette at the Lake and is captivated by her. She explains he must swear his undying love to break the spell. He is tricked by BvR and the spell is now permanent. In the final act they decide to die together... At the very end, you will see the couple reunited in death as they appear in the sun.

The finale is thrilling

MUSIC & DANCE: Tchaikovsky's "Arabian Dance"

Image
Amazing Flawless Perfection

I woke up this morning
With a short clarinet duet part playing in my head
Buuuuuuuuuuuuh bum Buuuuuuuuuh bum
I couldn't remember what it was
I knew is was Tchaikovsky
And was pretty sure it was from
The Nutcracker Suite - or maybe Swan Lake
I searched and found it and then
Found these 'phabulous' dancers
Dancing to the music
So here it is!
:  )

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
"Arabian Dance" (Coffee)

The Nutcracker Suite
