AOM Meditations: 032620

Art and Poem by AOM

The art is a Photoshop edit of a painting I painted
The poem I wrote back in 1986
I hope you enjoy them

I feel at first that the poem is a bit dark
But the resolution is very positive
A little ditty reminding us to give of ourselves
What we give to others, do for others, the Love we share with others
These are the things that remain  of us after we are gone
These are the parts of us that will ripple throughout eternity

"We may sometimes feel
that we can’t do much as individuals,
but humanity is made up of individuals;
we can make a difference.
As individuals
we can influence our own families.
Our families can influence our communities
and our communities can influence our nations."

~Dalai Lama

When you help another,
you exponentially increase
the amount of joy in the world.

“There is no greater joy,
nor greater reward
than to make
a fundamental difference
in someone’s life.”

~Mary Rose McGeady

“It’s not enough to have lived.
We should be determined
to live for something.
May I suggest that it be
creating joy for others,
sharing what we have
for the betterment of person-kind,
bringing hope to the lost
and love to the lonely.”

“I am opposing a social order
in which it is possible for one man
who does absolutely nothing that is useful
to amass a fortune of hundreds of millions of dollars,
while millions of men and women
who work all the days of their lives
secure barely enough for a wretched existence.”

~Eugene Victor Debs

“When we give freely, we feel full and complete; when we withhold, we feel small, petty, impotent, and lacking. We are meant to learn this great truth, that giving fulfills us, while withholding and trying to get causes us to feel empty and even more needy. This truth runs counter to our programming, which drives us to try to get something from others to fulfill our neediness, only to end up even more needy, grasping, lacking, and unfulfilled.”

"Capitalism is the astounding belief
that the most wickedest of men
will do the most wickedest of things
for the greatest good of everyone."

~John Maynard Keynes

I am not opposed to capitalism.
I am opposed to capitalism
that has no restraint, regulation,
or moral conscience rooted in Love.

“You give but little
when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself
that you truly give.”

“For it is in giving that we receive.”

~St. Francis of Assisi

“Until we can receive with an open heart,
we're never really giving with an open heart.
When we attach judgment to receiving help,
we knowingly or unknowingly
attach judgment to giving help.”

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

~Jesus
(Matthew 25:34–40)
