PB-DOS Shell (referred to as PB-Shell in the achievements list or, before 0.5800, ProgressDOS 5.0) is the first and earliest version of Progressbar in the Progress Computer lineup. It is based on MS-DOS 5.0, most presumably DOS Shell, released on 11 June, 1991. This system, according to the startup logo, is a text user interface (TUI)-type progress manager shell.
This system is only unlockable after unlocking Progressbar 1. Afterwards, it can be unlocked either through playing the game for at least a consecutive week on the mobile version or obtaining 5 Pro labels (14 total) on the PC version.

Trivia[]
- This is the only version of Progressbar where the movement of the progress bar involves the arrow keys or a joystick.
- When the player starts the Progressbar game mode on PB-DOS Shell for the first time after starting the game, the following message is shown:
PB-DOS Shell does not support mouse, you need to use keys to move the progress bar. That is easy and fun! - PB-DOS Shell is one of the operating systems that do not have Media Player. The others are Progressbar Chitown, Bar System 1 to BarOS 8 (excluding BAR/X) and B OS.
- It is possible to get this operating system fifth in the mobile version. However, in the PC version, it can only be received fifteenth as it requires obtaining 14 Pro labels, making this operating system impossible to obtain prior to the installation of Progressbar 10.
- If the player used an earlier version of the PC version of Progressbar95, the "Collector of classics" achievement would be impossible to be achieved without achieving "Full deck" first.
- This system, along with B OS and the BarOS lineup, does not have the ability to customise the cursor.
- According to most people, this is the worst operating system - 43% of the 91 people voted for PB-DOS Shell when they are asked to vote for the worst OS (this does not count the poll host).[1]
- In older versions, holding down the assigned key for a dog pop-up would not only catch it, but catch it more times depending on how long the key was held. This glitch allowed for gaining more points.
- This can only be achieved in the PC version of Progressbar95.
- In the files for PB-DOS Shell, there are boxes for BarOS 8 and BarOS 9. In 0.70, these were unused, since the both of them were being postponed to different updates.
- Starting from 0.7440, the level text while playing a game mode now appears in the taskbar.
- Despite not being displayed to the user, the ability to close windows with a keyboard press still appears in every other system.
- This is the only OS not to include either a dedicated clock application or a clock nestled in the taskbar, so the only way to check the time is by typing the command "TIME" or "TIMER" in ProgressDOS.
- Despite PB-DOS Shell's release date happening chronologically later than Progressbar 1 and 2, it is listed as being a less advanced OS than them.
- This is because PB-DOS Shell is at version 0.75, a earlier version than MS-DOS 5.0.
- This is the first operating system that has segments that don't wobble. The second to fourth are Progressbar 1X to 11.22, the fifth to eighth are BarOS 12 to 15 (in the Tag game mode) and the ninth to eleventh are Progressbar Server 201X to Server 2023.
- In version 0.9900, this system did not have pop-ups.
- The setup utility from version 0.9955 or higher uses PB-DOS Shell's windows.
- The same thing in the user agreement menu.
- There is a small chance for a "menu bonus" to appear in the Begin menu.
- Prior to 0.9967, Pabari 950 used PB-DOS Shell's assets for the majority of its interface.
