BarOS (formerly called Bar System before 1991) is a series of operating systems for the Progresh computer (later named pBar starting from 1999) that was created by Pyrus Pyrifolia Calculators in 1983. It is based on Apple's macOS lineup of operating systems (previously known as Mac OS X, then OS X) and its predecessor, Classic Mac OS.

Introduced in 0.6450, BarOS is different from Progress Computer, as the Bikerola and PBPower series of processors are only made for Progresh computers and each version of BarOS runs on different hardware, unlike Progressbar where every system runs in constantly-evolving hardware. To unlock new releases, one must get enough points.

Trivia

• Pyrus Pyrifolia is the scientific term for Asian pears, which look like apples.
• All BarOS systems have their own setup screens that look the same, except the install icon and the progress bar. H@ckgresh systems and Bar System 1 don’t have a setup screen.
  • The install icon depends on the system:
    • A Pyrus computer/Progresh showing a Pyrus icon (LenaOS, Bar System Fouler, System 2 to BarOS 10 Preview and BAR/X)
    • A Progresh showing the version number of that system (BarOS 10)
    • A CD with the Cathorse of that system (BarOS 10.II and 10.III)
    • A circle of the background of that system as well as the Cathorse (BarOS 10.IV to 12)
    • A circle of the background of that system without the Cathorse (BarOS 13 onwards)
• macOS Server was discontinued on April 27th, 2022. However, in the Progressbar95 universe, BarOS Server is still made.
• The cursors in BarOS 10 onwads, Server 10 onwards, all H@ckgresh systems, OptometryOS and VidOS are similar to that of the Black cursor from Progressbar 1X to 12 and Server 201X to Server 12, while in BarOS 10 Preview below, Server 1 below and BAR/X, the cursors are almost similar to the black cursor from Progressbar 1 and 2.
• The safe to shutdown screen in BarOS is different from other systems, alongside Progressbar NOT 4.0, NOT 5.0 and their server counterparts.
  • In LenaOS, it shows the logo of the system instead of a window.
  • From Bar System Fouler to BarOS Beginning, the logo is replaced with a window including the shutdown icon.
  • In BarOS 7 onwards, BarOS Rapture/Raspberry to BarOS Server 1 and BAR/X, the icon is a Progresh sleeping with lowercase letter "Z"'s on top of him.
  • Versions after BarOS 10, BarOS Server 10 and H@ckgresh have a Progresh with a screen saying "Z-z-z!".
  • Versions after BarOS 10.III and BarOS Server 10.III , it features a Progresh with closed eyes.
• Despite Bar System Fouler to BarOS 9 and Pyrus Raspberry not having Terminus, the system versions can be assumed from the versions of other systems that do have Terminus.
