more burfday!

some people need more cowbell, this week we have more burfday!

happy burfday to Liz, who celebrated a Pirate's Booty of fun last year and hopefully has a great day today as well. Liz, you deserve a pirate's booty of fun plus another 16 quarter pounders worth this year! ;-) happy bday, buddy!

very cool

way to go, hockey players. this is an awesome gesture and i hope it brings lots of awareness
and support.

so annoying!!

well, normally i won't complain about the local supermarkets very much. but of course, since i'm writing this, i am going to complain.

most of my rant is probably the result of me being annoyed because i've been allergy-ridden since sunday and i'm tired, coughing, not sleeping, etc.

so, i left work last night and headed to safeway to get some apples, yogurt, orange juice, and cough drops. i got all of the items i needed in a nice timely manner and was looking forward to getting home to go to bed. the lines were long, but a cashier came and opened up a new register - i was second in line (score!). i was behind these two ladies who weren't buying much, but i kept my distance from them because they reeked of cigarettes and alcohol. yay, a bonus. they took FOREVER and the cashier was just all smiley with them and never apologized for taking so long (it's a long story, but he took forever, too). if i didn't have all my stuff on the "counter" and someone behind me, i would have packed up all my stuff to move to another register. after at least 5 minutes, i'm sitting on the floor in line and they finally leave. he thanks them for their patience and just says "hi" to me. he scans all my stuff, then holds my safeway card over the scanner. he looks at me, waits, (all i want to do is get home) and waits some more. i ask him if there's a problem, he asks me if i want to guess how much my total will decrease once he scans the card. arrrrrgh!

it was very, very annoying. very. grrrrrr.

not a bad day...

aside from my frog friend who continues to croak and croak (sound-wise, not life-wise) and a very annoying allergy-cough combo, i have no complaints.

as a matter of fact, today has been pretty good.

my boss just got a preliminary score back on a grant we (the royal "we") submitted last october, and it looks good. funding won't be announced until may or so, but for now, it looks great. always good to have money. granted, this isn't our major funding source, but we'll take anything.

woooooo!

snarfy snarfday, belated

hey! okay, it's a day late, but i figured late is better than never.

snarfy snarfday snarfdog,
snarfy snarfday snarfdog,
snarfy snaaaaarffffday snaaarfdoggggg,

okay, andrea!

radio silence? internet silence? i'm back.

haven't had much of anything to report. well, except that i went to Monterey on friday since i couldn't friggin get to hockey because it was frigging SNOWING on hwy 17. but, lots of Maddy love made me feel better about not being able to play hockey.

lots of excellent, loud thunder on friday and saturday nights - and fortunately Maddy wasn't bothered by it at all. she just slept away on her fleece blanket, oh so cute.

spent part of saturday cleaning the gutters (yucky stinky!) and helping my mom put some new hinges on freshly painted drawers and cabinets. she and my dad have been working on repainting the bathroom and kitchen in what was my grandparents' house, and it looks really good. it's sad to see it different than how it's been for so many years, how my grandparents knew it, but it does look very nice.

i can't even say how awesome Maddy is. she has adapted to living with my parents so well and so fast. she's incredibly sweet and is so adorable.

played in a women's league "green" pickup, and since we didn't have enough skaters, we were joined by some friends from higher divisions. it was lots of fun - 5 on 5, got to play with Lucinda and Jen again (woo!), Heather joined us, but i had to play against Steph again! bah! seems like i never play with her! oh, but after the game, i also got to see some of my buddies from maroon since they had the game after us. woooooo!

by the end of the game i was feeling pretty bad - i think allergies caught up with me and the cold air from the rink wasn't any help. but, i had a great time playing. however, i'd very much rather be playing with the AT2 right now instead of sitting on my couch, but i decided i need to start taking care of myself. well, at least a little bit.
