Vacation Update

Image
First off...let me apologize. I honestly thought I would update the blog daily on our vacation (crazy huh??!!) But it proved to be a challenge with my parents computers...they have a mind of their own. What I mean is that their mouse is set up weird and randomly highlights and deletes things if you're not watching carefully...I got frustrated and decided to wait until we got home. But then got sidetracked with unpacking, laundry, repacking for our Ohio trip, dealing with a crying baby who wont take naps...you get the picture. anyways...here it is!!

We had a wonderful vacation and it was not as stressful as I thought it would be. We all took turns cooking (some more than others...thank you J & S!! Its hard to carry our weight and take care of Lady Jayne) and going out to eat. That's what vacation is all about right...eating??? Jeanee, Jared's mom, took us out to a fabulous restaurant in Southport called Fishy Fishy. We had so much fun that night!! And Justin and Sarah made awesome She-Crab soup from scratch one night and then cooked swordfish, grouper and maui-maui another night. It was fabulous and I actually am going to try to make it myself once we get home from our crazy travels the next couple weeks. Jeanee also made us "monkey bread" two days in a row....hmmm, biscuits, sugar and butter. Yummy! My mom and I attribute the five pounds we gained to her!!!

The weather was wonderful with a nice ocean breeze every day...we are so thankful to our parents for watching Jayne and letting us spend time at the beach. We did have Jayne down under an umbrella on a few occasions, but it was hot so we didn't let her stay down too long. She loved being outdoors and spent numerous afternoons swinging on the porch swing with her grandparents.

Sandy Toes

ImageWe're on our first family vacation with Jayne at Oak Island, NC. I was a bit worried about how she would do with all the people, the heat, etc. She had a rough first night and was off schedule all day but today she has done really well. She had a great morning nap after walking the beach with Grandpa and then spent two hours sleeping in her swing on the beach. It was so cute, but we made sure she was under cover the entire time...don't worry!
ImageJayne had a few new firsts...first time her toes were in the sand and first time her feet were in the water. She LOVED the water...actually cried when we took her feet out. The water is 82 degrees and wonderful. We spent the afternoon yesterday in the water jumping the waves and relaxing while Grandma Jeanee watched Jayne. The house is beautiful. It was built in 1950 so its old, but has a beautiful screened in porch where we spend most of our time. It has numerous rocking chairs and my favorite, the porch swing!!! We're sleeping in the upstairs loft which has a beautiful new bathroom and four big beds, etc. Its so nice!Image
ImageWe feel so blessed to spend the time with our families. My brother and sister-in-law flew in for the week and Justin's mother-in-law came in for the night as well. We've been relaxing, taking turns holding the baby, playing cards, cooking yummy food. I actually feel relaxed!! Pray Jayne does well tonight and we get some sleep! More picts to come!!!Image
