Project 365- Day 98

Bye-bye  MRCH...we miss you already =(

Holy Hail Storm!!!

Image
I hate storms. H-A-T-E...I've been scared of them my whole life. I remember many nights either crawling in bed with my parents or sleeping on their bedroom floor. And whenever there was a threat of a tornado I would put my dolls and animals in the basement, just in case. And there is always a storm when Jared is out of town. ALWAYS!!! This week was no exception and I am so thankful my mom was here with me. I made her sleep with me and we had the closet under the stairs all ready with water, blankets, food, flashlights, etc in case we needed to grab the girls and hide =) The storms were bad, but not that bad. I  did sleep much but both girls and my mom slept great! And we lost power for about eight hours or so.

Tonight we got another round of storms. We got hit with storm after storm. It was really freaky too b/c it would get really dark, the wind would kick up and we'd have lots of thunder and lightening. And then the sun would come out and it would be calm. Then 20 minutes later another part of the storm system would hit. Back and forth, back and forth. I was so scared. And the hail...oh my I've never seen hail this big...we're talking golf ball size. I really try not to let the girls feel my fear. Jayne sleeps through storms, however she was awake when this one started and she become very scared and clingy. I was finally able to read to her during one of the breaks and she actually asked to go to sleep and has slept through the rest of the storms, thankfully. Savannah slept through it all =)

I don't think I will get to sleep for awhile since my nerves are on edge and I'm all jumpy! Here are some picts of what we saw. And our patio furniture and even Jared's huge, heavy grill blew over!

Sweet Savannah

Image
Its been almost two months and we just now are getting Savannah's baby announcements out. Ahh, its been hanging over my head and I feel so good to have them done. I've printed them twice, the first time they were all cut off. But I love how these new ones turned out.

Image

Savannah is doing so well. She is eating a ton and for the past few nights we have been "sleep training". Anyone who has done this knows how tough it can be for a couple nights. But each night she has gotten better and tonight didn't even cry when I put her down. And last night she went seven hours between feedings. I love this =) During the day she definitely doesn't like to go longer than 3 hrs without eating, and she lets you know it! She is cooing so much more and smiles all the time. She doesn't nap well during the day, but neither did Jayne and we'll fix that as she gets older! I love being a mom to my girls!

Project 365- Day 97

Image
Jayne loves daddy and is so happy to have him home!

Today was a beautiful day..80 some degrees outside so we played outside all day. Jared & I also were able to get out for a couple hours sans kids. I forget what its like to go to the store or lunch without one or both girls. Its so much easier! My mom leaves tomorrow and I've already cried a couple times. I love having her here...not only for the extra hands but just for the company. July is too far away =(

Project 365- Day 95

Image
What does a fishy say...

Today my mom and I took the girls to Riverbanks zoo in Columbia, SC. After getting a late start and then proceeding to get a little lost, we arrived around 10:45am and left around 4pm. It was a loooong day, but such a fun one. Jayne loved all the animals and did amazing walking pretty much all day. She got a short ride in the backpack and one on moms shoulders but walked (or ran) most of the day. She kept us busy and I could definitely not have done it by myself.

Yesterday we kept telling Jayne we were going to the zoo and when we asked her what we were going to see she would say "amnimals". Her favorite of the day were Zebras or "zeebees". She would get so excited to see them. When we stopped for lunch we could see Zebras from our table and she loved that.  Savannah slept most of the day away, but woke to see a couple animals =) My favorite was feeding the birds. It was such a cool experience and Jayne actually did really well holding the cup and feeding them herself. She is getting so big!

Jayne only slept for 30-40 minutes on the way home and was so crabby later b/c she was exhausted. Both girls are sleeping now (Praise the Lord!!) and mom and I are vegging on the couches and will probably go to sleep soon! It was such a fabulous day and I'm already planning our next trip.

Project 365- Day 94

Image
I can't help dressing Jayne up even if we are only going to Ikea! Her poor nose looks worse now that it is scabbing up. Ugh! The joys of toddlerhood =)

I am so excited to go to the zoo tomorrow. My mom and I are taking the girls to Riverbanks zoo, which is supposed to be awesome. I can't wait to see how Jayne reacts to the animals. She was 13 months old the last time we went and she was pretty disinterested. I think this time around she will LOVE it. Going to the zoo is something fun we do with my parents. I always remember going to the Toledo zoo growing up and its fun for them to take Jayne now. She was two months old the first time we took her! Stay tuned for fun pictures tomorrow!

Savannah has been crying for the past 45 minutes and I'm so hopeful she will fall asleep soon. I have a hard time going to sleep if she is still fussy. Praying for a good night. Last night we had big storms come through so I was awake a lot even though the girls slept pretty well. And we lost power for about eight hours. It was so hot without our fans, even with the windows open. I'm so tired tonight and need my rest for tomorrow =)

Savannah- One Month

Image
Miss Savannah proves in one more way that she is different from her sister. She weighed in at 10lbs 2oz and 22.25"...90th percentile for both! Jayne didn't get past the 5th percentile until she was 18 months old!

The doctor was amazed that she is already rolling from belly to back (and has been since week one) and is cooing and smiling (and has been since two weeks old). I love surprising the doctor with what my kids can do, he he! Savannah is doing awesome and is super healthy. No worries on that end.

I talked to the doctor about having to cut dairy, caffeine, chocolate and spicy stuff from my diet. She says I can hopefully start working it back in over time in small doses. I'm getting used to not eating those things...but I miss chocolate a lot more than I thought =) I also brought up how Savannah wont go to sleep from 7-11pm. Its not a huge deal, but I can tell she's tired and just fights sleep. And even if I don't go to sleep during that time myself, its nice to just be off mommy duty! I think our doctor is also a "babywise" mom b/c she started talking to me about sleep training now that Savannah is over 10 lbs. We've only let ehr cry for 20 min max b/c lets face it, its hard to hear your kids cry. But tonight we put her down at 830 and were set to let her cry up to an hour (dr recommended) before getting her. After 40 minutes she was asleep...success is so sweet!!!!!! Hopefully after four days of this she will be ready to sleep on her own at this time. The dr. also said I could drop the 11pm "dreamfeed"if I want, however I might keep this up for a bit longer since I think Savannah would just wake earlier and then not make it until 8am. So we'll start slow and work her up to that in a couple weeks!
Image

Its hard to believe she is going to be six weeks this week already. She is already losing her newborn look (along with her hair!!). I love that she is awake more and interacting more with us. And today she napped pretty well both on her belly and in her crib on her back, finally! Praying tomorrow is just as good!

Project 365 Catch Up- Days 91-93

Image
Playing with Grandma "MRCH's" phone and glasses. She actually put them on herself!

Image
Pouting after falling down *face first* on the cement patio. It was my fault, I thought she had her footing but she didn't. It was a bad mommy moment. Her poor nose and forehead are all scratched up.

Image
Jayne and Brayden playing outside. Our neighbors have a new garden that the kids love to dig in. The two of them look so old holding hands..makes me wonder what they'll be like in 10 or 15 years!
