Surreal Waterfront (Weekend Reflections # 96)

ImageBalboa Island, Newport Beach, Ca

The two people walked into the reflection and I'm glad they did. If you look very closely you might be able to see the black statue of a boy sitting under the tree at the top of the stairs that lead to the water or in this case the land because this is upside down.
In case you couldn't tell, almost everything in this photo is an upside down reflection on water. :)

Blooming Trees (Weekend Reflections # 94)

ImageNewport Beach, California

This glass building has an interesting golden color that made these tree reflections really stand out. I'm going back when I have more time to take pictures.

Adobe Church (Weekend Reflections # 91)

Image Santa Fe, New Mexico

Another reflection from New Mexico. This time it's an adobe church and a white tree under a beautiful blue sky. It reflected in the window across the street.
I have a California reflection at my other blog.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

A hooded stranger, trees and the setting sun reflected in a puddle of water. (The hooded stranger was actually a teen riding a skateboard. :)

Ghostly Reflection (Weekend Reflections # 83)

Image Newtown, Pennsylvania (Tyer State Park)

Happy Easter!

It was a gloomy day. I looked at the bridge and there wasn't any one around but while I took the picture the woman suddenly appeared like a ghost. :)

Soft Rain Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 81)

Image Newtown, Pennsylvania A tree reflection captured in a rain puddle. I was able to take the shot just as the rain begain to fall, before the reflection was disturbed too much. We've had lots of clouds and rain but springtime colors are on the way. If needed, please click the link in the top right corner for Weekend Reflections instructions. Silo Reflections (Weekend Reflections # 79)

Image Bird in Hand, Pennsylvania

I took this a couple of weeks ago on the day my back really started giving me problems.

Check out the reflection of the silo in this field. I saw the water and hoped to capture a reflection of the barn but I just managed to get the silo.

Thanks for all of the nice comments and well wishes last week! I'm still not able to sit in a chair for very long so I regret that I won't be around to comment. I thought about leaving my comments off this week, but then I remembered that sometimes I need to help with Linky problems. Let me know if you have any Linky trouble. I'll check every so often. Hopefully, I'll be taking pictures and blogging soon. I'll still post Weekend Reflections every Friday in the meantime. Have a great weekend!

Tree designs (Weekend Reflections # 78)

Image Newtown, PA (trees reflected in a puddle of melted snow)

Thankfully, I have lots of photos in my archives because I've been off of my feet because of chronic back problems. I like the look of bare trees reflected in water and I usually make photos of them in black and white, but the reflected colors of the sunset were to nice to hide.

Near the End of Bulls Island (Weekend Reflections # 76)

Image Stockton, New Jersey (Bulls Island State Park)

The weather was beautiful last Saturday so Vicki and I decided to take a drive along the Delaware River. The Delaware River divides New Jersey and Pennsylvania so we made stops back and forth between the two states. That's Vicki in front of me enjoying the scenery. New Jersey is on the left and Pennsylvania is on the right. It was a nice snow covered walk to get to this spot and once again we had it all to ourselves.

Melted Snow (Weekend Reflections # 73)

Image Newtown, Pennsylvania (Tyler State Park)
I saw my reflection as I walked by this puddle of melted snow so I walked back and took this shot. That's when I noticed the cool tree branch reflections.

I haven't had much time to take photos or blog recently. I hope you all had a great week!

Winter Snapshots

Image
Image
Image Newtown, Pennsylvania~
This barn is pretty close to my house so I decided to take a few shots through my car window on my way to the park this afternoon. Now I just have to remember to submit it to Tricia's Barn Charm meme.
I took the bottom photo on Friday. As you can see it's very similar to my Weekend Reflections photo except this one has even more snow and it was taken with my point and shoot.

Cold and Lonesome Road (Weekend Reflections #71)

Image Newtown, Pennsylvania~

I took this shot because I liked the angle and curve of the road. I also like the contrast between the road and snow.

I thought the jogger was crazy to be out in the cold but then I realized that he probably thought the same thing about me. :)

A Philadelphia Stranger in the Night

Image Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-
I posted this photo in black and white at my other blog and promised to show the color version here.
This is an alley in Old City area of Philadelphia. I saw the guy walking and I ran over set up my tripod, clicked the shutter and hoped for the best. I'm happy with the photo but I can't decide if I like this version or the black and white one better. He's kind of spooky like a walking shadow don't you think? :)

When I walk around a city taking night photos I keep my camera on the tripod and I usually wear the camera and tripod strapped around my neck. I bet I'd make a pretty funny street photo for somebody. It's like a giant necklace that would put Mr. T to shame. :)

You can see it in black and white version here.

The Sun Setting on Two Houses

Image The Above photo is an old abandoned house that I pass by all of the time. The setting sunlight was so nice this time that I finally stopped and took a few shots. I also took some shots of some ruins and the abandoned house next door. I'll post them another time.

Image A couple of weeks ago I rushed out to take some pictures of the setting sun but I was almost too late. In my hurried up state I fumbled around and dropped my camera in the weeds. I decided to take a shot while I was down there picking up the camera. I think the weeds and lighting give it an other worldly look. It almost as if the night was being pulled down like a curtain. I think next time I'll try to get more shots of that big beautiful tree.
The house in the bottom photo is the same house as the one in my post titled "An Old House Nestled in the Tall Grass" except from a different vantage point and time of day.

The Odd Tree Out

Image Stone Meadows Farm Newtown, PA

Actor Ezra Stone who was famous for playing Henry Aldrich back in the 1930's and 40's lived here until his death in 1994. That was before my time but I can still remember watching old cartoons that made fun of Henry. His mother would say HEN-RY, HEN-RY ALDRICH! and Henry would reply "coming mother"
Any old timers out there remember Henry Aldrich? :)

Heading into Winter

Image This is one of the pictures that I took during a walk that Vicki and I took on Thanksgiving. We saw the snow falling and we had to go outside. This was right about when the snow turned into rain. That's Vicki walking ahead of me. I love this time of year!

This is my Old Barns post. Follow the link for more old barn photos.

The Last of the Colorful Leaves

Image
Image After I had a blood test the other day I noticed a farm next to the medical building. I happened to have a camera in my pocket so I took a few shots. Most of the colorful leaves around Newtown have fallen already but the tree in the top photo still has some.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Home Again

Image It's great to be back! With the exception of this photo and some for Weekend Reflections I'll be be posting the pictures that I took in Europe on my other blog Something Sighted. I've already posted a few and I'll be posting them for a long time to come. This picture is another version of my other blog's new header photo. I hope you all enjoyed Weekend Reflections while I was away. I'm looking forward to the fun this weekend!

The boy in this picture just stood there in awe of the Eiffel Tower for quite a while.
