Yesterday was a perfectly lovely day, complete with pearls. Handsome Son brought takeout lunch: first course crab stuffed flounder, one of my great favorites, haven't had it in years, next course Cajun shrimp and garlic potatoes, dessert chocolate chip cookies, pot of tea. I provided a dish of chocolate covered toffees.
Lovely rainy afternoon spent eating, chatting, total relaxation.
Crowned with the late night news that we've got the Senate majority. Blessed Senator Warnock returned. Should never have been close, but anyway we got it. Once again, Georgia and a black candidate save us. Thank you!
And the main holiday decorating has started, with Dollarama, handmade dolls from all over the house assembled in a mob.
Under the lamp the three dolls at left are the work of late sister Irene, dogonart online, then a European wooden doll, then a Canadian porcelain doll I made from a kit.
On the mantel piece, a wild array, from cotton reel and button dolls to knitted ones, to stitched ones.
The Dollivers, adapted from Claire Garland, aka dotpebbles insisted on bringing their giant pet budgies, also by dotpebbles
Red haired Ellen Wilkinson hobnobbing with the Queen, with a mermaid listening in, while Dolliver Call me Michelle listens to the story of the porcelain doll found in the dumpster
Here, small cocktail doll pretends she's not with the cotton reel kid and the carnival Green Lady. Next to her is ms. Tassel with friend Pipe Cleaner, climbing out of the toy cranberry shovel.
Here a couple of cotton reel dolls from Minnesota craft world sit on their first real chairs.
They're probably not going to give them up after Christmas.
The Dolliver Kennels dogs are staying home, space considerations, also the Cotton Reels are nervous around big dogs.
So that's us today, very pleased with everything on our current world.
Happy day, everyone, rainy here, and it's just fine! Whoa Ukrainian mice.
