Controls refer to player-wolf avatar movement, performing various actions, and camera manipulation. WolfQuest primarily supports mouse and keyboard on Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems. On mobile and tablet devices, input is primarily touchscreen through virtual inputs. Supported inputs and key bindings vary between major revisions of the game; an external controller may be supported on all devices where compatibility is listed. This article does not account for any leftover developer shortcut discoveries.

Controller[]

Also known and referenced as a Gamepad.

In the Anniversary Edition, external controllers have full support, including interface navigation and text input. Officially supported input devices include the Microsoft Xbox 360 controllers, Microsoft Xbox One controllers, and PlayStation 4 DualShock controllers. Other controllers known to be supported by the game which have not been confirmed by eduweb as of yet include Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons, Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, Microsoft Xbox Series controllers, Microsoft Xbox Elite controllers, and Sony PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers, though some may only work through Steam Input. Patch 1.0.8h officially introduced support for Valve's Steam Deck.

Support for Nintendo Gamecube controllers, Nintendo Wii remote + peripherals and controllers, Nintendo Wii U Pro controllers, Valve Steam Controllers, and Sony PlayStation 3 DualShock controllers is currently unknown/untested. If you know of any other controllers which work in-game, please do edit to add them or post a comment!

In Classic, external controllers have partial support, with Xbox (360, One, and Series) and PlayStation (DualShock 3, and DualShock 4) controllers having been tested. Other first-party and third-party controllers may work but are not specifically named or listed. This means only the wolf avatar can be controlled in-game, and any interface navigation and text input is completely dependent on mouse and keyboard.

In Legacy versions, edternal controllers are unsupported. It may be possible to reroute controller input through the use of third-party programs or Steam Input.

Mobile & Tablet[]

The Anniversary Edition has yet to launch on mobile and tablet platforms. Data will be compiled here when it is available.

  • Although it is not listed in the single-player Interface Help controls, Wag Tail works in both single-player and multiplayer modes.
    • Play Bow is multiplayer-only. Pressing its key bind in a single-player game has no effect.

  • External controllers may supported on mobile and tablet devices to be used in place of the virtual on-screen controller. This is typically an option for devices and controllers which support bluetooth pairing.
