Wolverines are solitary predators known for their ferocity.

In WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, wolverines are fierce predatory animals exclusive to Hellroaring Mountain.[1]

In WolfQuest: Classic, there are no wolverines. They don't frequent the real-life counterparts of the chosen in-game locations of Amethyst Mountain and Slough Creek.[1]

In Legacy versions of WolfQuest, there are no wolverines. They don't frequent the real-life counterparts of the chosen in-game locations of Amethyst Mountain and Slough Creek.[1]

Scent

Main article: Scent View#Anniversary Edition

In the Anniversary Edition's scent view, toggled by pressing the V key key, players can easily identify wolverines by their turquoise-spectrum scent trails, spores, and glow. Like other NPCs, these entities and their tracks emit scent spores which follow the direction of the wind.

For controllers, scent view is toggled via the Xbox Xbox Left Bumper button, or the PlayStation PlayStation L1 button button.

Diet

In the Anniversary Edition, wolverines are scavengers.

Prey

In the Anniversary Edition, wolverines will not hunt for themselves and are never observed doing so. However, they will scavenge from any felled carcasses they come across.

Habitat

In the Anniversary Edition, due to their previously-noted exclusivity, wolverines cannot be found in Amethyst Mountain, Slough Creek, Tower Fall, or Lost River. Before the implementation of the lynx, they were the only predator to be exclusive to a single game map, owing to their real-world counterparts having only been observed in two areas of the park.

Nodes

In the Anniversary Edition, wolverines spawn in at random intervals.

Life Stages & Behavior

In the Anniversary Edition, wolverines lead solitary lives, coming together only for breeding, although this is not depicted in-game and the player will never see them in pairs or forming groups unless by rare coincidence. They can be found randomly roaming alone throughout the wilderness, or else encountered at carcasses. Only adult wolverines are implemented; their offspring goes unseen.

Competitors

Gray wolves

In the Anniversary Edition, wolverines will compete with the player-wolf and their packmates over carcasses.

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 The problem has been that they don't really live in Yellowstone National Park. A survey in 2009 found a few wolverines in only two areas of the park: the southeast and one area of the northern border -- which, as it turns out, is where our upcoming Hellroaring Mountain DLC map is located! So we took this opportunity to add wolverines to the game, only on this new map. — posted by loboLoco in developer's blog The Wolverines of Hellroaring Mountain, published on March 7th 2024.
