The Boot Route Countesthorpe

The Boot Route in Countesthorpe is a take on the traditional scarecrow festival during which residents of the Leicestershire village are tasked with decorating the open car boots (trunks) of their cars or house fronts around a theme.  The theme of the event in 2022 was "Through Time" giving the residents much scope to create all sorts of interesting displays featuring everything from dinosaurs (with real smoke) egyptian mummy cars and even a whole train set in one car !. There's always time for a smile.

Newbold Verdon Christmas Yarnbomb

Newbold Verdon held its first ever Christmas Yarnbomb in 2021 featuring creations on a theme of christmas to decorate the village individuals, churches and groups came together to give all parts of the village a festive makeover. Primary School pupils created hundreds of multicoloured pom poms which where tied to the railings of the school which looked great bobbing in the breeze. The girl guiding groups of the village created a spectacular display on the village green opposite the Library featuring knitted bunting and some googly eyed reindeer pom poms among other things. The village churches got involved too with both methodist and baptist churches creating a selection of bells snowflakes and more, even the village sign and christmas tree didn't escape each getting its own selection of knitted creations. GCR Model Event poster 2016

A poster designed by me for the Great Central Railway`s Model Event in 2016 using a new color scheme and added detail on the train track and rails.

Sci-Fi Weekend - Poster Design GCR

A poster designed by me for The Great Central Railway`s Sci-Fi weekend in September 2015. My brief was to design a poster that had 60`s science fiction influences echoing the era that saw the launch of British Sci-Fi shows like Doctor Who etc, The typeface was chosen for its futuristic style and the color scheme of reds and oranges reminiscent of the planet Mars (a favorite location of many a sci-fi writer). The background features a long exposure rotating star trail above a mountain range and three UFO`s with the lead craft beaming down its otherworldly inhabitants (named Kay-tee & Ju-Ells) to the planets surface to visit the event.

Pirates & Princesses Event Poster Design

My brief for a poster design for the Great Central Railway`s Pirates and Princesses event involved combining the contrasting colours and elements traditionally related to Pirates and Princesses in one poster design. Each theme takes up one side of the poster with reds and oranges on the pirates side contrasting with pinks of the princesses side the two contrasting sides are tied together with a seascape across the bottom of the poster which also features two children dressed as a pirate and a princess.

GCR Model Event - Greenacres Family Zone

Poster design for The Family Zone at the Great Central Railways Model Event, this was designed to work on its own as a design but also have visual ties (colours etc) to the main Model Event poster taking place at the other stations along the line. The balloon animal family reference the fact its a family event and also literally the fact that there was balloon modelling at the event.

Psychic Night Poster- Menphys

Designed for a charity Psychic Night in aid of Menphys this poster uses a cool blue colour palette and a typeface that has echoes of fairground and sideshows The letter P contains a spiral hinting at a mystical secret about to be revealed. The mystical/celestial theme continues throughout the rest of the design with stars and a moon. The star burst in the background is a nod to the theatrical nature of the event and draws the viewers attention into the writing in the centre.

Riley's Sandwich Bar

A Poster designed by me for Rileys Sandwich bar to promote an event celebrating 5 years of business. The event raised funds for local charity Menphys and features a giant club sandwich with various fillings in a block printed style with the Riley's logo attached to a skewer at the top of the stack. The Teen typeface is used to give a clear but fun style and the footer is consistent with other posters for Menphys events.

Oadby & Wigston Diamond Jubilee Charity Show

This Poster was designed by me for The Oadby & Wigston Diamond Jubilee Charity Show held at Parklands Leisure Centre in Oadby during the Queens Diamond Jubilee year of 2012. The design takes its inspiration in equal measures from the music hall posters of the past and from the famous Keep Calm And Carry On posters of wartime Britain, This style allows for lots of information to be displayed in a small amount of space whilst not being overly complicated for the viewer to read. The poster uses a Red, White & Blue colour scheme appropriate for the subject matter and features the Union Jack flag repeated in these colours as a border. The design is broken up by the use of grass at the bottom of the page and a number of "Royal" Ladybirds scattered throughout (how many can you spot ?). The event will raise much needed funds for local charity's Menphys and the Oadby & Wigston Branch of Age UK.

Menphys Walk Poster 2012

I was asked to design a poster for the Menphys walk an annual charity walk taking place on 13th may 2012 in Leicestershire. Taking its cues from last years poster for the 30th walk (also designed by me !) it features an refinement of that years footprint idea giving the poster a 'walked on' look. This motif has been continued onto all associated media for the event including banners and sponsor forms as well as any merchandise such as stickers, water bottles etc. The poster uses the charity's colour scheme of Red Grey & Black & utilizes the Teen typeface to allow the poster to make it easy to read but also portray a fun and playful personality,  The Teen typeface is teamed up with Earwig Factory evoking memories of children`s A is for apple type alphabet posters. The Poster additionally features a QR code to allow interested persons to scan the code with their smartphone triggering a free download of a registration form for the walk creating an incre...
