It may be winter with temperatures getting lower every day but that didn't deter these surfers catching the waves on a Devon beach in 2013. The sea was rough, waves large and the low winter sun (although shining brightly) provided little warmth to the surfers at they entered the water. Out in the middle of the estuary the braver surfers rode the large waves around wolf rock whilst paddle boarders and other surfers found ample sized waves to ride in the bay of North Sands beach. The Severn Bore is a tidal bore seen on the tidal reaches of the River Severn in England. The bore is popular with surfers who come from far and wide to ride this rare river wave, It forms upstream of Sharpness, and can be seen as far as Maisemore and on particularly high tides has been known to reach Upper Lode Lock below Tewkesbury. My film (Surfing the Severn Bore) features the evening bore of Wednesday 21st August 2013 and shows the bore approaching and passing before continuing its journey upriver carrying many surfers as it goes. The largest recorded bore was on 15 October 1966, which reached a height of 9.2 feet (2.8 m).

The annual Boardmasters event combines Surf, Skate & BMX competitions at Fistral Beach which is well known as the home of the British surfing, the event also features a Surf Retail Village offering various apparel from leading brands such as Quicksilver, Fat Face, Oakley and more. My short film following one person (my Dad) as he attempts to windsurf in high waves and sub zero temperatures at South Sands beach in Salcombe Devon. The wind was blowing and as much of the country shivered in sub zero temperatures and several inches of snow Windsurfer Mike Spencer of Leicester set out to conquer the waves of the South Sands beach in Salcombe South Devon.

The Scarborough Surf festival includes round 3 of the UK Professional Surf Tour and features some of the best professional UK surfers competing to win the UK Professional Surfing Title. The event takes place on Scarborough`s north bay in 2011 10,000 people attended the event and the 2012 Festival featured a camper van meet and mountain bike shows. A selection of VW Camper Vans (and their owners) meet at the Scarborough Surf Festival. The Campers where lined up along the seafront with a selection of colours, designs and types each one reflecting its owners personality. The backdrop of waves and professional surfers competing completed the scene as the public got the chance to examine every inch of the well loved vans.

The Severn Bore is a tidal bore seen on the tidal reaches of the River Severn in the UK many people come to see the rare sight of a wave travelling upstream against the flow of the river and its is a magnet for surfers and water sports enthusiasts who challenge themselves to ride the potentially 2 metre (7 ft) high wave as it goes by.
