Ice Rink Launch - Leicester

The festive season means the Ice Rink is back in Leicester `s Jubilee Square and I was invited by  @visitleicester  ( On an Independent and unpaid basis) to attend the launch event. We enter the rink via the new larger (wheelchair accessible) entrance on Jubilee Square alongside the Wheel Of Light where a number of food stalls are available for those after a German Sausage or festive Mulled Wine after they`ve taken to the ice. Once inside we see the large rink and Team Icicles Professional Ice Skating Team preparing for the launch. New for this year is the Street Curling lane with its distinctive Curling Stones . Now to the main event and  @LCFC  Mascot Filbert Fox has arrived to officially open the rink for the season with a countdown from 10 he karate chops the tinsel ribbon declaring the rink officially open. Out Of The Deep Blue part of Journeys Festival International 2023. When big waves wash Eko a sentient sea giant onto the shore he encounters Violet a young girl. The two tell a story, a dialogue around our planet's climate emergency, the power of friendships and more told through dance, movement and masterful puppeteering. Eko created by Leicester`s own Mr Cleaver and Autin Dance Theater Co meets the audience before performing in front of the city`s Clock Tower.

Diwali Open Day at BBC Radio Leicester

On Diwali day 2019 BBC Radio Leicester held an Open Day featuring tours of the station, an exhibition of dance costumes (see pic below) and traditional dance performances by the Centre for Indian Classical Dance (CICD). My film features a few of the traditional dances performed in the reception area of the radio station. A design promoting the event was also created by myself and was displayed in and around the station on the day and can be seen below. Happy Diwali to all celebrating.

Leicester City Festival 2019 - Heliosphere

Spinning, Spiraling high above the crowd Heliosphere is presented by the Dream Engine and was the finale to a week of events at Leicester City Festival 2019. During the performance an acrobat suspended beneath a helium balloon explores the uncharted space between street level and rooftops creating the illusion of flying. The performer can go from street level to twenty meters up in a mere moment making for a dynamic and interactive show for the audience. We join the performer and ground crew setting up before she rises into the sky, then marvel as the large helium balloon eclipse the evening sun over Jubilee Square in Leicester what a view of the city she must have from such a height. As she descends to street level children race to give her a (very) high five before she soars high above their heads and performs acrobatic moves.
