Notes:
For PCB fabrication, we require PCB design file in Gerber RS-274X format (most preferred), *.PCB/DDB (Protel, inform your program version) format or *.BRD (Eagle) format. For PCB assembly, we require PCB design file in above mentioned format, drilling file and BOM. Conformal Coating Services for PCB Assemblies

Plan conformal coating around your operating environment, masking drawing and inspection requirements. Build a practical coating enquiry with a material-volume planner and a clear path from prototype to repeat production.

At a glance: Conformal coating is a protective film applied to selected assembly surfaces. Material selection, board cleanliness, coverage and cure must work together; coating alone does not establish a waterproof product.

Plan the work before releasing the files

Start with the exposure, not a generic coating name

Describe the operating temperature range, humidity or condensation, contaminants and service life. Identify sensitive circuits and any connectors, switches, sensors or optical surfaces that must remain free of coating.

Request review of the actual assembly and environment before treating a material family as the specification. State whether you already have an approved material or need candidate materials evaluated against a defined test plan.

Release a drawing that can be inspected

Mark required coverage and keep-out areas on a controlled drawing. Identify both board sides, edges, test points and inaccessible areas. Include material identity, target dry-film requirements and the applicable acceptance documents.

Ask the quotation to identify masking, programming, curing and inspection work separately where relevant. A general instruction to coat the board leaves too much room for different interpretations of the same project.

Plan upstream and downstream work

Resolve cleaning, drying and electrical testing before coating begins. Confirm when programming, connector assembly and final enclosure integration occur, and how repairs will be handled if a later test finds a problem.

Agree a first-article review using representative prototype assemblies. Review coverage photographs, process records and the specified measurements before releasing a larger batch. Keep approved exceptions with the assembly revision and carry them into the repeat-production manufacturing brief.

Use the planner to expose assumptions

The volume tool converts your coated area and dry-film target into a liquid-use scenario using volume solids and transfer efficiency. Enter component surfaces and both sides where applicable rather than just the board outline.

The result is not a quotation or process approval. Send the scenario with your readiness brief so PCBSync can review material, masking, inspection and quantity together and return a scope-specific response.

Keep the review concrete

Include these requirements in your enquiry

01

Operating environment is described

02

Material or selection requirements are identified

03

Coverage and keep-out drawing is released

04

Cleaning and drying route is defined

05

Cure and thickness requirements are specified

06

Inspection and first-article approval are assigned

Mark unresolved items explicitly. Ask the quotation to identify proposed exceptions, required customer approvals and any inspection or special-process charges that remain open.

Coating equipment, populated boards and physical construction

Existing media-library photographs show equipment and construction relevant to the planning discussion. They are not evidence of a measured film thickness, an approved resin, waterproof performance or a completed qualification for your product.

Conformal Coating FAQ

Does conformal coating make a PCB waterproof?

Do not assume so. Protection depends on the material, complete assembly, exposure and qualification. Define the required environmental performance and verify it.

Is the material-volume result a coating price?

No. It is a scenario using your inputs. Material, setup, masking, processing and inspection require a reviewed quotation.

Can I request coating with PCB assembly?

Yes. Include it in the PCB assembly enquiry together with the coating drawing, material requirements and acceptance plan.

Technical links checked 2 October 2026. Apply the current documentation and project-specific acceptance requirements. Planners do not certify manufacturability or validate uploaded design files.

Discuss your Conformal Coating requirements

Send the scope you want reviewed

Add a project brief or reference budget from the tools above. Include your assembly revision, requested quantity, required timing and open engineering questions.

Provide the assembly revision, coating or fill drawing, material part number or selection requirements, quantity, masking boundaries, cure constraints and acceptance plan. Include service temperature, chemical exposure and rework needs. Identify unresolved requirements and request separate pricing for setup, processing and verification.
