Notes:
For PCB fabrication, we require PCB design file in Gerber RS-274X format (most preferred), *.PCB/DDB (Protel, inform your program version) format or *.BRD (Eagle) format. For PCB assembly, we require PCB design file in above mentioned format, drilling file and BOM. Click to download BOM template To avoid file missing, please include all files into one folder and compress it into .zip or .rar format.

Medical PCB Manufacturing and Assembly: A Controlled Build Starts Here

For a medical electronics project, a useful quotation covers more than a board count. Bring the controlled design revision, assembly requirements and acceptance records into one review. PCBSync can assess the requested fabrication and assembly scope and identify what needs agreement before release.

The design decision

A PCB inspection report, a supplier quality-system certificate and medical-device approval serve different purposes. Confirm the evidence your product and supplier-qualification process actually require.

Choose the relevant path

Four agreements before the build

  1. 01

    Define the build

Product stage, board revision and requested manufacturing scope.

Agree the work package before quoting.

  2. 02

    Confirm supplier evidence

    Required quality-system and process records.

Check current scope and manufacturing site.

  3. 03

    Agree acceptance

Inspection, programming, calibration and test procedures.

Name limits, records and responsible reviewers.

  4. 04

    Control repeat orders

    Approved alternatives, changes and traceability.

    Keep the delivered configuration identifiable.

Decisions before fabrication

Manufacturing evidence your quality team can review

01

Start with the manufacturing boundary

Identify whether the enquiry concerns bare boards, PCB assembly or a larger electronic subassembly. For PCB manufacturing, state the product development stage and the purpose of the build: engineering evaluation, verification, validation or released production.

Include the requirements that change manufacturing work, such as controlled material, cleanliness, coating, firmware, calibration or serial identification. Keep these requirements linked to the current drawing and assembly revision.

02

Ask for evidence that can be checked

Where certification is a sourcing requirement, request the current certificate, manufacturing site, scope and validity. Review the records and process evidence relevant to the work being purchased.

This page does not represent a PCBSync ISO 13485 certificate or a device approval. Quality-system requirements and regulatory responsibilities must be evaluated for the actual supplier role and product market.

03

Make test coverage and change control visible

Separate bare-board electrical checks, assembly inspection, programming, calibration and functional tests. Define the procedure, limits and records for each requested service. A statement that every board is tested is incomplete without that scope.

Specify who approves component or material changes, firmware updates and repair dispositions. Keep approved alternatives in the release package so procurement can act without losing configuration control.

04

Quote the first build and the repeat build

First builds can include fixture development, process review and documentation work that does not recur in the same way. Ask for those items to be identified separately from unit fabrication and assembly.

Use the evidence-gap planner to organise a controlled characteristics list. It records reviewed, unreviewed and missing evidence; it does not make a regulatory or product-release decision. Send open questions with the enquiry so they can be resolved explicitly.

Engineering handoff

The information that moves a quote forward

A useful quotation starts with a controlled revision and clear open questions. Prepare these items, and mark anything still being decided.

Build an inquiry brief
  1. Controlled fabrication and assembly package
  2. Product stage and intended manufacturing scope
  3. Required supplier qualification evidence
  4. BOM alternatives and change-approval rules
  5. Inspection/calibration/test procedures and records
  6. Lot or serial traceability and delivery requirements

Real boards: construction and connection details

These real photographs from the PCBSync media library show physical board construction and connection features. Appearance alone does not verify copper weight, internal via treatment, drilling depth or lot acceptance; request corresponding drawing and inspection records.

Before you enquire

Medical PCB: practical questions

Is a medical PCB automatically ISO 13485 certified?

No. ISO 13485 addresses a quality management system. Certificate scope and site must be verified; it is not a certification of an individual PCB.

Can PCBSync quote assembly and testing?

Provide the BOM, assembly data and approved test procedure. Engineering must confirm the requested scope, fixture needs and required records.

Do these tools validate a medical design?

No. They organise manufacturing inputs or calculate stated planning scenarios. Device verification, validation and regulatory obligations remain separate.

Tell us what needs to be built

Send the board revision, quantity, requested delivery and the manufacturing scope you need. Include unresolved technical questions so the quote can distinguish confirmed work from items awaiting approval.

Provide controlled fabrication and assembly data, the BOM, quantities and required inspection records. Identify cleanliness, programming, calibration and test requirements. Ask for the specific supplier evidence required by your quality process before sharing the controlled project package.
