Notes:
For PCB fabrication, we require PCB design file in Gerber RS-274X format (most preferred), *.PCB/DDB (Protel, inform your program version) format or *.BRD (Eagle) format. For PCB assembly, we require PCB design file in above mentioned format, drilling file and BOM. Wire Harness Assembly Services from Controlled Drawing to Product Integration

Request wire harness assembly with clear branch dimensions, pin mapping, termination requirements and test evidence. Prepare a build-ready enquiry and use the cut-list planner to estimate stock length for one specified wire or cable material.

Prototype through production · scope and schedule confirmed after file review

At a glance: A wire harness organizes multiple electrical connections into a defined assembly. Reliable procurement requires more than a schematic: the physical drawing, material list, connection table and acceptance plan must agree.

Plan the work before releasing the files

Release a complete harness definition

Give every connector and branch a unique identifier. Supply the connection list with cavity numbers, wire identifiers and connector viewing direction, then relate those identifiers to the physical drawing. Include unused cavities and any seal plugs where required.

Specify the wire construction, size, insulation, color or marking and complete terminal and housing part numbers. An existing sample can support discussion, but a controlled drawing is needed to resolve tolerances, substitutions and revision ownership before repeat contract manufacturing.

Plan material and termination work together

Use separate cut-list records for different stock specifications. The tool totals three complete cut-length entries for one material and applies only the extra stock allowance you enter. Count physical pieces rather than overlapping route segments.

Review the wire, terminal and tooling combination against the component instructions. Define required preparation, crimp inspection and any mechanical verification without substituting a generic pull-force value for the actual product and acceptance requirements. Tooling or test-fixture setup should be visible in the quote.

Define evidence for the completed connections

Specify the intended connection map and checks for unintended connections. Identify any required resistance, insulation or dielectric tests with their method, conditions, limits and coverage, especially where the harness contains sensitive connected components.

A continuity result does not establish every mechanical or environmental property. Agree how visual, dimensional and electrical records relate to the drawing revision and unit or lot identity. Referenced IPC documents define relevant acceptance scope; the required edition, class and exceptions belong in the project agreement.

Approve the first article before scaling

Review connector engagement, labels, branch reach and retention in the intended installation. Record approved changes on the drawing instead of relying on undocumented shop-floor adjustments that may disappear in the next batch.

For a PCB assembly or box-build program, assign ownership of mating parts, interface changes and final system testing. Ask the quotation to distinguish one-time preparation, materials, recurring assembly and specified verification so that repeat orders can be compared on the same scope.

Keep the review concrete

Include these requirements in your enquiry

01

Harness drawing and revision are controlled

02

Wire, terminal and housing part numbers are complete

03

Pin map includes viewing direction and unused cavities

04

Branch dimensions, labels and protection are specified

05

Test methods, limits and coverage are agreed

06

First-article and integrated-product approval are assigned

Mark unresolved items explicitly. Ask the quotation to identify proposed exceptions, required customer approvals and any inspection or special-process charges that remain open.

Answers before requesting a quote

Wire Harness Assembly FAQ

What files support a wire harness assembly quotation?

Provide the drawing, material BOM, connection table, quantity and timing. Include branch dimensions, labels, installation constraints and the required test evidence.

Does the tool optimize cutting from available reels?

No. It totals entered complete piece lengths for one stock specification and your allowance. Reel sizes, cutting strategy and production tolerances need separate planning.

Does continuity testing prove the entire harness is acceptable?

No. Continuity addresses specified electrical paths. Mechanical, dimensional, insulation and other requirements need their own defined checks where applicable.

Discuss your Wire Harness Assembly requirements

Send the scope you want reviewed

Add a project brief or reference budget from the tools above. Include your assembly revision, requested quantity, required timing and open engineering questions.

Provide the harness drawing and revision, wire/cable and connector/contact BOM, pin-to-pin connection list, branch dimensions and tolerances, labels and required quantity. Include the installation context, test specification and record requirements. Identify proposed substitutions, supplied materials and unresolved details so the quotation can separate confirmed work from review items.
