Notes:
For PCB fabrication, we require PCB design file in Gerber RS-274X format (most preferred), *.PCB/DDB (Protel, inform your program version) format or *.BRD (Eagle) format. For PCB assembly, we require PCB design file in above mentioned format, drilling file and BOM. Click to download BOM template To avoid file missing, please include all files into one folder and compress it into .zip or .rar format.

Solder Paste for PCB Assembly: Match Material Selection to the Complete Process

Select solder paste by alloy, flux system, powder and the intended assembly route. Build a review package that connects material choice to printing, reflow, cleaning and downstream coating requirements.

At a glance: Solder paste combines metal powder and a flux medium; choosing an alloy alone does not define print behavior, residue compatibility or the full assembly process.

Plan the work before releasing the files

Start with component and product constraints

Identify the permitted solder alloy, component temperature limits and any customer material restrictions. Review the bare-board finish and the sequence of later joining operations before choosing a paste based only on a familiar product name.

A change of alloy or material system can affect the process route and verification plan. Record who approves substitutions and whether an alternate product requires a new profile or compatibility review.

Match powder and printing requirements

Review the PCB stencil aperture and thickness, intended printing method and the paste manufacturer guidance together. Fine features can create different release and deposit requirements from larger pads on the same board.

The aperture tool helps describe geometry, but it does not select a powder type or qualify a paste. Include the actual product data and representative print evidence when comparing candidate materials.

Plan residue handling and downstream operations

Clarify whether PCBA cleaning is required and why: appearance, electrical reliability, coating adhesion or another product-specific requirement. The label no-clean describes a material/process use case; it is not a blanket statement that residue is suitable for every assembly.

Where coating, bonding or sensitive circuitry follows soldering, review compatibility and the specified cleanliness evidence. Keep cleaning chemistry, component compatibility and drying within the agreed process rather than adding an improvised wash after a defect appears.

Control the material through production

Use the product-specific receipt, storage, conditioning and working-life instructions, with lot traceability and a controlled release to the line. Record changes in paste product or process conditions alongside printing and reflow evidence.

Request a PCB assembly quotation that identifies material supply, stencil scope, profiling and any cleaning or special-process development. The enquiry workbench captures these choices and open questions without pretending to approve a material that has not been reviewed.

Keep the review concrete

Include these requirements in your enquiry

01

Permitted alloy and exact product are defined

02

Critical aperture requirements are reviewed

03

Component process limits are available

04

Cleaning and residue requirements are stated

05

Coating or bonding compatibility is considered

06

Lot handling and substitution control are assigned

Mark unresolved items explicitly. Ask the quotation to identify proposed exceptions, required customer approvals and any inspection or special-process charges that remain open.

Solder Paste FAQ

Is no-clean paste suitable for every PCBA?

No. Suitability depends on the product, process and downstream requirements, including any cleanliness or coating criteria.

Can the calculator choose a solder paste?

No. It supports geometry and scope planning; material selection requires manufacturer guidance and process review.

Discuss your Solder Paste requirements

Send the scope you want reviewed

Add a project brief or reference budget from the tools above. Include your assembly revision, requested quantity, required timing and open engineering questions.

For a stencil quotation, provide top and/or bottom paste layers, the board or panel outline, approved aperture exceptions, requested foil/frame dimensions and your printer interface requirements. State the number of stencil sets and required delivery timing. For paste or printing investigations, add the exact material and measured defect records. Need an NDA or a specific file-transfer route?
