Notes:
For PCB fabrication, we require PCB design file in Gerber RS-274X format (most preferred), *.PCB/DDB (Protel, inform your program version) format or *.BRD (Eagle) format. For PCB assembly, we require PCB design file in above mentioned format, drilling file and BOM. Consignment PCB Assembly: Prepare a Buildable Component Kit

Supply your own parts with a kit that can be identified, counted and matched to the released assembly. Plan shortages, handling and unused-material return before shipping components.

Prototype through production · scope and schedule confirmed after file review

At a glance: A consigned kit transfers purchasing activity to the customer; it does not remove the need for receiving checks, traceability or shortage decisions.

Plan the work before releasing the files

Identify every supplied item

Label each reel, tray or bag with its manufacturer part number, quantity and corresponding BOM line. Keep packaging identity with the parts, especially when several similar values or variants share the same package.

State whether the kit contains all components or only selected items for the PCB assembly order. Include the bare-board manufacturing source and revision separately. An incomplete kit should have a shortage list and a named party responsible for each missing item.

Agree handling and usable quantity

Discuss carrier format, cut-tape lengths, tray compatibility, moisture-sensitive handling and any special storage requirements before dispatch. Follow component-specific documentation rather than applying a universal bake rule.

Agree allowances for setup, handling loss and replacements by part type and process. Count useful supplied quantity rather than assuming every loose component can be fed or assembled without additional preparation.

Control receipts and the remaining balance

Confirm the receiving destination and project identifier before shipping. Record discrepancies, damaged packaging and unidentified material before the build starts; unresolved differences should not disappear into an informal kit adjustment.

Specify how surplus parts, empty reels and rejected items are handled. Retain an inventory reconciliation against the actual build so the next release is not planned around stock that was consumed, returned or unsuitable.

Keep the review concrete

Include these requirements in your enquiry

01

The kit list matches the BOM revision

02

Each package carries an identifiable MPN

03

Usable supplied quantities are stated

04

Shortages and allowances are agreed

05

Handling requirements accompany sensitive parts

06

Unused-material disposition is recorded

Mark unresolved items explicitly. Ask the quotation to identify proposed exceptions, required customer approvals and any inspection or special-process charges that remain open.

Answers before requesting a quote

Consignment PCB Assembly FAQ

Must I supply extra components?

The needed allowance depends on component packaging, setup and build process. Agree quantities with the assembler rather than using one universal percentage.

Can PCBSync source missing lines?

Request a partial-turnkey assembly scope for the missing items and clearly assign the sourcing responsibility before procurement.
