Notes:
For PCB fabrication, we require PCB design file in Gerber RS-274X format (most preferred), *.PCB/DDB (Protel, inform your program version) format or *.BRD (Eagle) format. For PCB assembly, we require PCB design file in above mentioned format, drilling file and BOM. Click to download BOM template To avoid file missing, please include all files into one folder and compress it into .zip or .rar format.

Xilinx FPGA Programming: Distinguish JTAG Configuration from Persistent Boot

Plan FPGA configuration and configuration-memory programming as distinct tasks. Match the image, flash device and boot requirements before requesting a repeatable production programming route.

At a glance: Loading an FPGA through JTAG and programming its nonvolatile configuration memory are different operations. A successful download does not by itself prove the design will reload after power is removed.

Plan the work before releasing the files

State the required delivered condition

Decide whether you need a temporary debug configuration, programmed boot memory or a completed board that boots and passes an application test. Include the exact FPGA family and the external memory part where used.

A lab demonstration can rely on a connected host and a downloaded image. PCB assembly acceptance should describe what happens after a normal power cycle with the host removed, using the intended boot source and board settings.

Match the image to the selected target

Release the correct bitstream or configuration-memory image for the target workflow. AMD documentation distinguishes direct device configuration from indirect programming of supported memory through the FPGA; device support and generated file settings must match the job.

Record image revision, intended offsets and any combined data regions. A file extension alone does not establish whether the contents are suitable for the selected memory, bus configuration or product variant.

Control access and verify the boot path

Document JTAG connector orientation, reference voltage, chain order and relevant boot-mode settings. Keep board power conditions and the programming procedure repeatable so an intermittent connection is not mistaken for an image defect.

Specify the supported programming verification method, then a separate cold-boot check and functional acceptance where required. Retain the status and failure evidence needed to distinguish access, memory-programming and application problems.

Prepare a production handoff

Provide the released image package, approved procedure, known-good reference and expected result. Identify who approves updates and how units programmed before a revision change are segregated or reworked.

Use measured programming, verification and handling times in the scenario tool. The estimate is useful for comparing fixture assumptions, but it does not validate flash compatibility or establish production yield and quoted delivery.

Keep the review concrete

Include these requirements in your enquiry

01

Exact FPGA and memory parts are identified

02

Temporary configuration or persistent boot is specified

03

Image and offsets match the intended target

04

Chain and boot-mode settings are documented

05

Programming verification and cold boot are defined

06

Reference board and revision approval are available

Mark unresolved items explicitly. Ask the quotation to identify proposed exceptions, required customer approvals and any inspection or special-process charges that remain open.

Xilinx FPGA Programming FAQ

Why does a design disappear after power-off?

A volatile FPGA may have been configured through JTAG without programming the intended boot memory. Review the device architecture and boot route.

Does the tool detect my flash or FPGA?

No. It is a timing and requirements planner, not a hardware programmer.

Technical links checked 2 October 2026. Apply the current documentation and project-specific acceptance requirements. Planners do not certify manufacturability or validate uploaded design files.

Discuss your Xilinx FPGA Programming requirements

Send the scope you want reviewed

Add a project brief or reference budget from the tools above. Include your assembly revision, requested quantity, required timing and open engineering questions.

For a programming review, identify the exact device, package, board revision, intended programming route and released firmware version. Provide the programming procedure and required verification or test records. Arrange an agreed transfer route before sharing proprietary images; do not paste private signing keys into an enquiry. Include quantity, first-article requirements and required timing.
